  1. A small question for the guru's of the forum. I have a 54 plate TDI Galaxy that is supposed to be a 130bhp one, but the previous owner (for what ever reason) had fitted a 115bhp engine (but still kept the 130 ECU). Long story short, it now has a 130bhp engine in, but needs some of the 115 kit/ancillaries changing. I have been informed by an independent VW garage that the current turbo is the 115 version. Now having done some looking around, there appears to be a visual difference between the 115 and 130 turbo's in that the 115 turbo inlet side has the cast outlet to the intercooler leaving at 90 degrees to the inlet to the turbo (ie almost in line with the exhaust outlet) while the 130 turbo has the cast outlet leaving parallel to the inlet. The small question is, are my visual differences correct? If not, are there any visual differences between the two, apart from trying to read the markings on the installed turbo? Many thanks for all answers received.
  2. many thanks for that. concern was that lack of performance from replacement alhambra 130bhp engine was due to incorrect ecu. just need to look elsewhere now.......... tvm
  3. in my 54 plate tdi ghia I have an engine ecu with the code 038 906 019 NB. now I can't get from either Ford or VW what engine code this ECU is for. Does anyone know of a "backwards" translation that get tell me if this is for a 115 or 130bhp engine? All help gratefully received.
  4. is the engine ecu for a 115bhp tdi different from a 130bhp tdi? the reason behind the question is: bought a 54 plate 130bhp tdi (confirmed on Ford and DVLA records) head gasket went when plastic housing on side of engine broke bought 2nd hand 130 engine and turbo to fit found engine already in place was 115bhp fitted replacement engine (with additionl 130 bits such as oil filter housing) engine starts and runs ok but power is "lacking" with no urge at top of rev range fuel consumption "poor" (37.5) and dash mpg says 28.2 so wondered if previous replacement had / may have changed ecu. all info greatly received
  5. Got is sorted once all connectors out. Initial look was connector was wrong shape, but was actually 2 connectors close together (duh). 5000 was straight fit in and works fine.
  6. Am looking to change my 6006 cd player for the "lower" spec 5000 cassette player to enable use of my ipod through the cassette plug in i have. Tried to swap last weekend and it seems the wiring plug for the 6006 is different to the 5000 one. Are these final parts of the loom radio unit specific? Also there was a wire with insulation tape ending it in the main loom part. As I have the seat head rest multimedia pack that does not work (fuses have been checked), i believe power is required from the radio to allow the dvd to work. Any idea of wire colours for this feed? Are there major differences between the mk1 and mk2 looms, as I have a Haynes manual which has a loom diagram? any help gratefully received.
  7. looking through the various sites there seems to be a multitude of people offering RS style wheels. are any best to avoid, or better still are there those that people have found to work without failure/cracking etc? I only ask as although the kerb weight for an A6 is more than a Galaxy, some of these wheels seemed to be aimed at Golfs and A3's.
  8. Hi As someone who has been a Galaxy / Sharan driver for the past 200k miles (and growing) I thought as my 54 plate Galaxy has having "opportunities" I would introduce myself and find out more. Regards Max
