Agreed I had this problem with my 1.8. You have to insist your Ford Dealer do a firmware upgrade as mine didn't have a clue when I told them what was needed. He was very skeptical as he hooked the computer then said "oh, looks like you're right Sir, there is an upgrade" Problem disappeared after that

I think the problem is that you need an system update to be done by a Ford Dealer They won't know what you are on about but I had this problem of stalling/burning clutch until I got the update done. The problem stems from the car having a fuel saving thing that runs really low rule whilst idling, when you the move the car there is a delay whilst the fuel switches to normal mode. This is the point where you momentarily lose power and have to rev - thus burning the clutch Take it to your dealer telling them the car needs a system update

Ps everyone should take their galaxy to ford dealer for PCM update, it has transformed my car, no power kag when taking off and therefore no excessive clutch burn accomodating this do it

I had this problem with my 07 Galaxy I took it Ford Dealer, told them it needed a software upgrade. They looked dubious but hooked it up to diagnostic machine and sure enough, new calibration update ready installed it and it's like a different car, the power lag when taking off has gone, so gas the occasional clutch burn smell do it

I like my MKIII, but when I got it I had this problem with stalling and clutch burn as a result of having to use extra revs to prevent stalling Turns out that the engine had some Eco thing going on when idling, and a delay in power uptake when you start to drive Apparently this gets resolved at 1st service via software upgrade, though I've had mine and in spite if specifying this to the dealers, I don't think they did it as it remains the same I avoid clutch burn by only letting clutch out very slidly until delay goes then it drives normally, I should really take it back to dealer and insist on an Upgrade Only problem with an otherwise excellent car

I had same problem, the dealer diagnosed a leaking injector seal- which was replaced under warranty and it cured the problem

I took my car to dealer with these fumes coming in and they diagnosed a leaking injector seal, which they are replacing under warranty Disappointing problem after 12000 miles

I've just bought a 07 1.8 TDCi 2000k and an hour after driving away from Motorpoint, these stinking fumes came in the cabin through the air vents. It seemed to originate from somewhere near the passenger side of the engine. Stank out the new interior smell and it stayed around for all the next day. took it back for them to investigate, but at least they could smell it when I did. see what happens
