Hi, I replaced the Auto selector bulb on my Galaxy a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but the bulb came along with a holder that was a strange 'dog-leg' affair, a few centimetres across. The important thing is that the whole assembly - that is bulb and holder - come out together. I think that there was a single screw securing the holder in place. I got a replacement from a main dealer - wasn't too expensive, if I remember. The key thing is to not attempt to remove the bulb on its own - it won't come out! It looks like one of those 1.2W instrument panel lamps, but it is not. Hope that helps Giles

There is an interlock that prevents the engine from starting when NOT in park or neutral. This switch is also connected to the lock button on the gear shift. The engine won't start if you are holding the button in. My Auto sometimes won't start and I just press and release the button on the gear shift and hey presto! all is ok. Suppose I really ought to investigate the switch! You can take the cover off the gear-shift housing and find the switch in there. I once replaced the bulb that illuminates the selected gear that is also down there - it wasn't too hard to dismantle. I think I started by removing the gear-shift knob with an allen key, and went on from there. I think I removed the ash tray too - but it was quite a while ago....

It seems to me that the wiring in the flexible rubber boot is always the first suspect. I have a 98 Gal and my rear driver's side window stopped working some while ago - when I exposed the wiring I found one of the cables had broken (a fat brown one if I remember correctly). If the window works when you press the window button but not when you use the door key then it won't be the power cable but another one - but that would also mean it's not the motor. It the window is not working at all then check the cabling first. If you have a meter you could test for 12V at the motor terminal when you operate the key or press the window button. It you don't get power then it is not like to be the motor. Giles
