Ford Galaxy Mk2 Vacumn Pipes
psolak replied to psolak's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, Took the car out today for 240 mile round trip. The car pulls and easily exceeds 70+ MPH with 6 people in it. However as soon as we hit an incline the Turbo output drops but the car can maintain approx 60MPH - although once it did drop to 50MPH. As soon as the car gets to the top of the hill the turbo kicks straight back in and stays there until the next incline. It has had a brand new VW MAF this week, along with new filters, Miller PD oil, small filter at the back of air box has been checked and that is not blocked. I have checked all visible hoses for nicks, leaks and holes but none found. I don't think it is sticky vanes as a turbo can kick in on a straight and deliver a very fast acceleration to 70MPH and keeps on pulling way past that. The only other sensor I can think of which will cause the ECU to go into limp mode would be the TMAP sensor - if that is faulty either due to blockage or having electrically drifted. Is there a way to check the TMAP sensor either while it is on the car (VAGCOM) or on the bench with a multimeter - this would of course require knowing the known good values to compare against. Thanks in advance for all your help. -
Hi, Does anybody have any pictures and or a guide of where the Vacumn Pipes on a Mk2 Ford Galaxy 2001 115Bhp TDi PD are located in the engine bay. :angry2: This is in relation to a VAG-COM fault code I have read on the car "17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation" and I wish to remove pipework from the equation before proceeding to turbo charger removal. Usual symptoms - lack of power going uphill and on flat ground, the MAF has already been replaced with a known good MAF which has made no difference. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Does anyone have instructions on where to locate and remove the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 2001 Ford Galaxy 1.9Tdi (2001 PD 115BHP). I have looked at; http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...art=#entry90568 But it doesn't show you exactly where it is. I have used VAG-COM to check my car after noticing the temperature gauge was not moving sometimes, and it is picking up the following fault (even after clearing the code); 17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Open or Short to Plus P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Thanks in advance.

Hi, Does anyone have a guide or step-by-step instructions on how to take off and clean the EGR Valve on a Ford Galaxy 1.9TDi 2001. I have looked on the forum but cannot find the info. Thanks in advance

Heres the fault code from Vag-com 00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129) 35-00 - - Only thing is it doesn't tell me if it is faulty or registering a fault, and which sensor it is. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Kind Regards

Hi Guys, I need help the A/C has stopped working on my 2001 115bhp Tdi Ghia Galaxy - VagCom has come up with the fault code A/C Pressure switch. 1. Does this fault indicate the switch is defective(how can I tell) or that there is insufficient refrigerant in the system. 2. If the switch is faulty how can this be replaced easily in car. The system was only re-gassed last year and the air-con guy said a good vacum was being formed. Kind Regards

Hi Guys, Have just found a website that lists all the major vag-com codes and the 17965 P1557 DTC refers to Charge Pressure Contr. Positive Deviation. With a bit more investigating I found that a possible cause for this code is related to a loose or corroded Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) hose. Can someone please help me a identify where on a 2001 TDi 115Bhp Galaxy the EGR pipe(s) are? :D

Hi, I have just run Vag-com shareware 3.11.2N and have come up with following two errors - can anyone shed any light on what they mean. Thanks in anticipation. 17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Open or Short to Plus P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17965 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs P1557 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent The car is a 2001 1.9Tdi Ghia 115Bhp

Yes I can get all that - how the procedure be done?

Thanks, I am in Leeds - I should be able to get hold of the full version of Vag-Com I just need to know how it's done. I am an IT Tech with electronics knowledge so I should be able to to do it, if given clear instructions. Regards

Hi, Is it possible to program a new key into the Galaxy

Hi, Went to Blackpool yesterday and the Galaxy (1.9TDi 115BHP 2001) kept loosing power on the motorway. The car would accelerate and maintain speeds as normal and after 5 to 10 minutes lose power and the car would only maintain about 50 mph. Stopped at services after 20 miles and disconnectd the MAF but that made no difference. I conected the MAF for the journey back home and the car performed as normal i.e. there was power/acceleration. Any ideas MAF (but would disconnecting it not have restored acceleration to over 50mph) or could a faulty glow plug(s) casue this? This fault has no occured several times on the car over the last 1month. Thanks in advance.

Hi, When joining the motorway today there was a loss of power and car couldn't achive more than 50MPH uphill (fully loaded) the revs were over 3000  . Drove the car back home (limp home mode :o ) let it stand for an hour and disconnected the MAF sensor. Took the car for a spin (2 mile) and it seemed back to its usual self (couldn't take it over 40 mph as the roads don't allow it). Then reconnected the MAF and drove it back seemed like its usual self. Can anyone help with the following questions? 1. Is the sudden loss of power in new shape TDi (115) commonly down to the MAF. 2. How long can the car be driven if need be with the MAF disconnected -and will this affect performance, emmisions or damage the engine. 3. Can MAF be sensors be cleaned or reconditioned as a DIY job. Thanks in advance
