  1. Hi Paul ...... mmmm ....... maybe a madhouse to some of the members but me ....... Its as sexy as my Mondy ..... jhdfoivbweivbidbvi!!!!!!!!!
  2. may be true but ford procedure on tis says nothing about opening bleed nipple I think this is a VW procedure Nik as I spoke to my sister-in-laws husband who works for Inchscape in Telford and that's the procedure they are taught there.
  3. Daz ...yes this is the Lambda sensor or Oxygen (O2) sensor basically there to control the emissions. Don't know about your secondary air error but I did notice that these readings: MAF lb/min 0.000, ABSLT TPS (%) 0 .... look a bit strange ...... was the engine running during this test? I would expect the MAF to be measuring some air passing through it and the ABSLT TPS ...? I assume this is the TMAP sensor (Inlet manifold Absolute Temp / Pressure sensor) output? So have you definately confirmed the MAF U/S? I can't see how the O2 sensor problem will be caused by a faulty MAF myself.
  4. You mind there is air in the system and requires bleeding (when was the steering fluid last changed?) or the auxiliary drive belt might be worn. Just a couple of things you can do before contemplating changing a steering rack.
  5. Yep as this will remove the power supply ...... I can't remember which fuse you need to take out though.
  6. Donna ........ They cannot re-program it; they can only reset it by clearing 5 "flameout" faults that will stop it from trying to ignite again. It sounds like the glow plug needs replacing although you had the whole thing replaced under warranty. Yours is igniting but not burning all the fuel which is the cause of the smoking. I would query the dealer who supposedly replaced the unit and ask why it should start to smoke again after a couple of years or if they're not forthcoming, then I would change the glowplug.
  7. Have PM'd you matey.
  8. if you turn the car off then back on it will be ok but if you rev it past about 2800rpm then i get the fault back This does sound like turbo overpressure / VNT Butch and I reckon once you've got the fault codes it'll give you a good idea. If you do a search for VNT this will give you an idea of what and how it operates. Good luck
  9. Glad to hear that it's improved the sound Ady and I know the aerial adapter you're on about. I went back to Halfords and ranted about the same problem when my son bought a new HU and they gave me the adapter. So is the bass response OK? I'm still in two minds whether or not to fit the Alpine sub in the Mondeo that I took out of the gal because it means sticking it in the boot and I can't be ar**d to start ripping interior panels out of a car that's not even a year old yet. The sound is pretty good anyway ...... what do you reckon?
  10. There are a few people that will tell you on here that not opening the bleed nipple to wind back the piston will render the ABS U/S as any "crud" will end up travelling through the control unit.
  11. Lost me there with lockers and exo cage .......... ?
  12. Well they had to lose ONE game in whole season ... don't think any other team has done that have they? Still, Manning is only the second quarterback to throw a game winning touchdown in the forth quarter in Superbowl history ..... the other.... Joe Montana. What's the new motor like then?
  13. I reckon it should be ok matey and if like the Galaxy the leads might be divided into two plugs, they'll still fit into an ISO connector ...fingers crossed. Pioneer's good ....... having pre-outs will save you a lot of time in the long run when it comes to wiring the sub up. You'll need to think about where you are going to route the power cable from the battery to the sub amp so it might be worth fitting pre-out and remote leads while you're fitting the HU save having to pull it all out again. Zillion watt hey?! ....... you'll have to drill some holes in the windows for pressure equalisation when its booming . ...... lol
  14. Whoops ..... the underdog does it again! Nice car by the way ..... 4.2?
  15. Ady ... do a google on this; Alpine CDE-9848RB. This is just what you're after I reckon and you can get it for under
  16. Don ...yes there is. On the coil itself you'll find a small connector with three wires going into it. If you remove the connector you can measure the resistance between the two outside pins on the coil which measures the primary coil. The secondary coil resistance is measured by disconnecting the HT lead and measuring between this pin and the middle pin of the small connector. Don't ask me what the reading should be but if you have a good coil then you can compare the readings. I would also give the coil a tap while you're measuring to see if there is an intermittent open circuit. Hope this helps.
  17. Rusty ..... i reckon you've lost the Vert Sync form the Video player and without it it can damage the screens and it sounds like they are switching themselves off for that reason. Have you had a look at the connections from the back of the video? It might be worth looking at a DVD player to replace the video, obviously with similar outputs so you can connect it straight in.
  18. Worked for me Dave ........ thanks mum
  19. The 3 Minute Management Course Lesson 1: A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you
  20. Poor Ron It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to shout at them. Some are over-sensitive and there's nothing worse than an over-sensitive woman. My name is Ron. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Julie. When I took early retirement last year, it became necessary for Julie to get a full-time job for the extra income that we need. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I now usually get home from the pub about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she nearly always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't shout at her, instead I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch at the pub so eating out again is out of the question; I'm ready for some home cooked food when I get home. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's usual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed. Another symptom of ageing is complaining. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to do the shopping during her lunch hour. But we take them for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then won't hurt her. I like to think tact is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She has to take a rest when she has only half finished mowing the lawn and several extra breaks when she's vacuuming through the house. It does annoy me, vacuuming when I'm trying to watch 'Match of the Day', but I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to make herself a nice cup of tea and just sit for a while, and as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me too. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Julie. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your ageing wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other, eh? Ron EDITOR'S NOTE: Ron died suddenly last week. He was found with a 24-inch Stanley screwdriver rammed up his a*** with only 2 inches showing. His wife Julie was arrested, but the all-woman jury accepted her defence that he accidentally sat on it.
