  1. Sounds like a split turbo pipe. I had the same thing, sounded like a 747 when accelerating, although no real loss of power which I found strange.
  2. Happens to me quite often. Mines a taxi so ot does a lot of town mileage, I think the turbo pipes get clogged then it starts going into protection mode (limp home) as the turbo isn't boosting properly. A good thrash up the motorway usually clears it for a few days!
  3. Had my clutch done recently but been having a few problems, stuff like the pedal moving under my foot, sticking in gear. Seems a fairly common problem from reading threads on here and the general opinion is that a good bleed with a pressure kit is the way to go. Iv'e been out and bought a Gunsons Eezi-bleed, but before I get stuck in is there anything that I need to know, or is it just as simple as hook it up and open the bleed nipple? Cheers
  4. Yeah, fuses were the first thing I checked
  5. Mk2 1.9 TDI. Last year I had the flooded passenger footwell problem. For some reason since then the (dial type) heater controls have stopped working (as has the clock strangely). Ive been rigt through it but I can't find the problem so I'm thinking the actual control unit is fried. Unfortunately the heaters were on full heat when they packed, not ideal for summer! SO does anyone know if this can be put back to cold by going into vagcom and changing anything, and secondly is there anyone not too far from Southampton who would be wiling to plug her in? Cheers
  6. Sound mate,,,I also need the answer to this one for the mk2 2.3 zetec with dial controls,,,in addition I need to know what fuse(s) numbers are relavent and does the heating resistor control the actual blower as well as all the other dials..... Can I also ask have you the same probs as me with heating console,,,I have nothing working or lighting up at all, no directional control, heat control, no AC, no circulation, no rear heating button working? THE only one that is working is the actual blower dial and it still blows too...weird... nice one Yep, exactly the same as me. Weirdly the dashboard clock packed up at the same time too. Have been playing around again this morning, there seems to be 12v to the direction control side of the unit, and obviously the blowers as theyre still working, all the earths seem ok too. I'm thinking the actual unit is screwed.
  7. Already did, but all the posts that contain ebay links the items are all expired or removed.
  8. Looking for a vag com lead and software. There are about a million on ebay that all look pretty much the same. Is there a particular one for an 05 Tdi? Cheers
  9. Hopefully not, its fed from the brake system on the galaxy! Its fed from the same reservoir, but its a different ressure system. I know this as my slave cylinder went a while ago, no pedal and fluid leaking out, brakes not affected at all.
  10. Can't help with the sorce but I've just had the head replaced on my 1.9tdi and I've noticed the same noise happening. I thought it was gearbox/clutch as it happens when you change gear but you have made me think it could be turbo related. What sort of noise is it? I get what sounds like 2 or 3 whirring squeaking sounds, almost like a squeaky electric motor winding down. Seems to be worse when the car is cold although it does happen occasionally when up to temperature.
  11. I've got exactly the same thing happening to mine now, although my flywheel was done a long time ago. Could it be the release bearing?
  12. Mine is an 05 1.9TDI with a 6 speed box. When I change into 5th as the clutch bites there is a whining screeching noise for a second, it goes quiet as I accelerate, but if I lift off I can hear a humming whiney noise that changes pitch with speed. Only happens in 5th, all other gears are fine, no other clutch problems that I am aware of. Any ideas?
  13. Is this on the outside of the turbo? Mines been playing up quite a bit so I had a poke round earlier. THeres a cylinder on top and to the rear of the turbo that has an small arm coming out of the bottom into the turbo body. I can move this a tiny bit, probably no more that 3 - 4 mm. Should it move further than this and with any effort? Cheers
  14. My 05 Gal goes through front tyres like they're going out of fashion. I keep them inflated at 38 psi (its a taxi so I always have different loads). Its always the edges of the tyres that go and its both edges of both tyres. I thought it could be the tracking but thats been checked by two different places and its fine. I was advised at its last test that the wishbone lower bushes were perishing, could this be the cause? Is there a way to check and adjust the camber? Thanks
  15. Bumping this back up in case any new members haven't seen it and may be able to help. The damn heaters are still stuck on full heat, which is wonderful in the middle of summer :)
  16. Sounds like you've got exactly the same problem as me. Incidentally does your clock work? MIne packed up at the same time as the heating controls.
  17. Hi, does anyone know if the heater controls on my Mk2 (05) are controled by a relay, and if so, which one? Its the dial type controls with a/c switches below the dials. Cheers
  18. They were definately listed in the parts book for the Mk2, I'm selling them as mine turned out to be the bigger ones and I couldn't take them back as the motor factors went bust the day after I bought them!
  19. Ebay no. 180369683913
  20. As the title says. Does anyone in the area have a working vag com they wouldn't mind plugging into my car one afternoon? (05 1.9 TDI)
  21. My 05 115TDI has developed a rather odd wiper fault. When I switch on the ignition the motor makes a strange almost grinding sound, this goes on for a few seconds then the noise changes to a much louder version of the same noise. Sometimed this only happens for a short while, then the wipers jump up the screen and then everything works normally. Other times the noises go on for ages, but sometimed physically moving the wiper arms stops it. I'm sure its not the linkage as when they move its at a decent speed, and the motor can't be burnt out or they wouldn't move at all. ANyone got any ideas?
  22. Well I cleaned the module up and plugged it back in but no luck, heater controls and clock stil dead. Fuses are ok, is there anything else it could be? A relay perhaps?
  23. OK cheers, I'll clean it up a bit and see what happens.
  24. Yeah thanks, found it. I already posted on that thread funnily enough. :D Do you remember which fuse you changed? I think Ive checked them all but I could have missed one if its not in an obvious place.
