Hi all, Just a quick note to say thank you, to all the members that have helped me over the last 3 t 4 years either by repling to my post or the information I have read from other post. I am leaving the site as I have now sold my Gal and down graded to a Picasso. I know the driving will not be as fun, but my wallet will be better off. Thanks again RussT

I've used RainX, and I find it does do the Job of repelling the rain. BUT I found when I need to use the wipers it makes then judder and also lightly smears the screen. I thought it was the way I applied it so I read the instruction again and re-applied it. Still no change. So now I only use it on the Blind Spot on my Mk1 Gal (left and right side of the window screen that the wipers do not touch) it works great there.

HI, can any one help me out? I have a 1977 2ltr Ghia and when I came into work this morning my brake lights warning indicators were both on. I thought this very strange that both bulbs should blow together. So I got a colleague to check the lights with me to see if the working or not. And sure enough both light where no working. Then after a bit more pressure on the pedal they came on. Then after messing round for a few minutes they worked sometimes then not others. So it looks like I have an intermittent fault. The question is does anybody know where I should start looking for this fault, could it be I just have dirty contacts some ware. Thanks RussT

Not sure whether GLX as heated mirrors, I have a 97 ghia which as them. But I broke one of them and it was a lot cheaper to replace with a non heated glass. So it could be possible that this as happened to yours with the previous owner

Have you put CD's in the changer ?

The first time I put them in the wrong way and they did not work at all. So I turned one of them round and as said the key worked for a couple of days. It is confusing the hell out of me . RussT

I took Masked Marauder advise on the battries and as he says this guy is cheap and very quick on delivery. I have a further problem with mine though, when my battries went a couple of years ago I replaced them but they only lasted 2 days. So I thought bugger this as I paid top price, from Ford for them. Any way after Masked Marauder advise on cheap batteries I thought I would try again. Still only lasting 2 days, and the torch key light does not work. Does anybody know how I can fix this short circuit or do I need a new Key. Thanks RussT

Increased Mpg For All Engine Types

Re:- info from j_mchattie "He advised that it was better to buy a tank of optimax and take the car for a drive at 70 in 4th gear for half an hour. It will give the engine a high rev clean out, and help the fuel to flow as it should do (ie. when it was new with clean injectors and clean pots)" As any bodyelse tried this ? And if so, is it worth paying the extra for Optimax ? Do you get more miles to the gallon ? RussT -
Yep I agree with You Goofygolfer <_<

Hi all, I have just had a Tow Bar Fitted to my 97 Gal, and they have removed the inner bumper moulding as it was in the way. Is it worth me trying to sell this on ebay or is it just wothless and would be better off chucking it away. Coz if I do sell my Gal, I would leave the tow bar on so I would not need to keep it. Thanks RussT

'door Open' Telltale On, But Door Closed
RussT replied to scousedivvy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had the same problem, and as Nigel describes the remedy it works fine untill it as rained a few more times then the build up happens again. I cleaned mine about 6 times in 4 months. Then I finaly replaced it. I wish I had replaced it straight away to save all the hassell of keep cleaning it. It cost less than a tenner for new button. -

I had something similar a couple of years ago. I could not work out where it was coming from and it turned out to be a broken rear engine mounting. A local garage realised what it was straight away, just by rocking the engine.

Mine Blows well, but just does not blow any Hot Air ( more like luke warm, never seems to get Hot)

Alarm Man (Ian) When you say easy to Fit, How easy, is easy. As I am not well up the Electrics field, but would be very intrested in purchasing one or these. As I have 97 Galaxy and my Key remote just drains new battreries when I put new ones in so it only works for about 20 mins. Do you have a diagram that I could look at before I purchase to see if i could manage to fit it. Regards Russ

Same thing happened to me 12 months ago (drivers window) it turned out to dirty connections in the wiring loom, inside the door pillow. Then 2 months later the Motor went done

2.0l Petrol Misfire At Low Revs
RussT replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had a simalar prob with my Gal (same year and model as yours). It turned out to be some thing called the HEGO System ! (don't as me what that is as i am not an engiine buff) But my local Ford Dealer, which belive it or not are very good (Stanway of Lytham) checked every thing out and came up with this. They kept the car a few days to run tests on it as the Test machine kept coming up with differnt faults. So they tried varios parts till they found the right one, and here we go "Good Dealer or what, they only charged me for the actual parts fitted" i think i paid about -
Help, Wheel Locking Nut Missing!
RussT replied to Xenonman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had the same problem on all four wheels when I went to get a new set of tyres. We took 3 off with normal socket hammered on, but the forth had to be chiseled off. Hence I replace them with normal studs. Ok I lost the security of having my Alloys pinched. But the thiefs have all the equipment they need to getting the security nuts off.. (so why do we bother putting them on) And I have got peace of mind that if I get a punture on a dark winters night I know I can the wheel off. :D -
I seem to have a problem with the heating system in my 97-Gal, it never seems to get very hot.. (Luke Warm infact) as winter is now here i would like to travel in the warmth. The Temp Gauge never gets into normal. (stays just of the bottom) So last year I got the Ford dealer to look at it, thinking it need a new Thermostat but they said it was ok and this was normal for the Galaxy. As any bodyelse got this problem or is it just me who drives a Fridge in Winter. Chilly RussT
