1998 TDI manual gearbox. Wanted to check level of gearbox oil as i have neve checked it. Could not get filler plug undone. I was using sawn of allen key and 1/4 drive socket. Has anyone had similar problem. Do i need a special tool ? Thanks in advance

1998 SEAT ALHAMBRA Rear door will not unlock Not sure if its wiring or lock. If its lock has anyone tried to remove door card with door locked shut. How do you test motor in situe if door card is removed. If motor is faulty. Can the motor be removed when door card is of but door still locked ? as some fixings screws are one the end face of door. Any advice appreciated. Steve P

In this forum i have read many people have had same problem i am getting. That is going into limp mode when engine is rev,d hard. I have had a new maf fitted. My car is a 1998 1.9tdi Seat Ahambra with the 110 AFN engine. I have been told by a VW technician to check the arm on the turbo moves about 10mm and is not seized. If it is is a new turbo the only option. Also another thing that has been mentioned is the vacuum hoses. I do not know which are the vacuum hoses on my engine.Can anyone advise how many there are and what they connect. Do they just push on or do they have those factory fitted flat clips on them. Any advice appreciated

TDI 110 AFN engine 1998 Temp gauge not working. Want to replace sender. 4pin but German and Swedish say 2 colour band options Black with yellow band Black with green band Cant see with sender in place, want to get part before draining the system. Can anyone advise correct one.

Seat alhambra 1998 tdi AFN engine Want to change air filter. Can anyone advise what has to be disconected. How do you part the top of filter housing from air ducting. Thanks Steve P

At last oil change i put fully synthetic oil into my 110 TDI My 5 litres have all gone, used for oil change and top ups. Can I continue to top up with semi-synthetic. Can they be mixed or should i buy some more fully synthetic Regards Diesel alhambra

Its the light behind the fuel gauge in the instrument pod. If its capless do you Know size/reference no.

Need to change one of the dashboard lights on my 1998 alhambra. Can anyone tell me what type of bulb is used so i can buy before i strip down. Also code or ref no if possible.

Excessive play on LH balljoint on wiper mechanism. Tried rubberbands but seems to be getting worse. Can anyone detail repair using bolt to remove play. How do you strip down to carry out repair. What parts of mechanism do you remove. Please detail modification to repair.

Hope so but how do i remove it. Can anyone who has changed sensor advise how they did it. As is seems well stuck in place.

ABS light is on all time. Drive shaft rings are turning ok. Tested front sensors, offside gives no reading on meter. Have not disturbed back sensors as i assume front due to steering lock normally break first. Is this sufficient to say its broken or do i need to have a diagnostic check. Also tried to remove it in case i have to change it, could not budge it, do you need to drill it out, or does the hub have to come off to drift it out. Is the sensor a main dealer part only ?

Problem was both dipped beam in headlight bulbs blown. Fitted new bulbs all ok. I was supprised both had gone together and thought it was relay/fuse problem.

Can anyone help. 1998 Seat alhambra. Problem is dipped beam in both headlights have stopped working. When i switch on at dasboard the side lights work, second position to put on dipped beam, lights do not come one. Main beam still comes on throught steering columb switch. Both dipped beams are not coming on. Is it a fuse or relay problem.

I cannot comment on the fuel pump needing replacement as advised by RAC. I had a diesel passat before my alhambra. I had air bubbles in the clear supply line to fuel pump my problem was a faulty non return valve on the fuel filter. Either the return valve was leaking or the rubber o/ring seal ineffective letting air into the fuel line causing fuel starvation/staring problems.

Seat alhambra TDI 5 speed box . Gearchange ok in warm weather. Stiff to engage in lower gears when it is cold. Anyone else had problem. Do i need to change oil ? Thanks in advance.

Seat alhambra 1998 tdi Interior lights staying on for 20/25 mins then go out. Which relay controls time delay on interior lights. Can anyone advise type/code number of relay, also location in fuse box. Dashboard lights lefthand one behind temp gauge gone. Are these the same as fitted to clock, if not what size/type are they. From previous forum discussions i know it is possible to repair drivers side balljoint on the wiper linkage. Can repair be detailed. Also does linkage have to be removed or just ball joint assembly. Currently balljoint has 3mm end play. Thanks in advance. S Reg Seat Alhambra

Problem with electrics When starting there was a clicking noise from dash/sterring column, rear wipers would start do 4 sweeps then stop. Interior lights dont switch off on timer. Problem less accute now no clicking on start up, wipers dont run but interior lights still dont go out. Anyone had similar problems. S reg TDI Alhambra

1998 Seat Alhambra ABS light was on all of the time Car failed mot. From this forum found possible cause split abs ring, this was indeed the problem. Also ring is not supplied seperately. Having just bought a new cat and fitted new droplinks. was not to keen to have to buy new cv joint as it is not worn out. This is my fix- used 2 pack araldite to glue inner face of abs ring, to shaft and shoulder ,its a bit fiddly but can be done without stripping joint. Also by not stripping assemly allows to check ring rotates freely and that there is no glue in slots. Held ring together by hand until glue started to set. Then left 2/3 hrs ;) checking to see that ring is still tight on shaft and rotated freely. Took for a run then at 20 mph light went out. Now only comes on to test circuit. I don,t know how long it will last but I thought it was worth a try and car passed MOT retest. Maybe of some use to others willing to get sticky hands from glue.

1.9tdi 1998 . Original cat sheared where it fits int exhaust. Replacement has been fitted with a steel ring not a paper gasket at downpipe end. There is now a gap between flanges of approx 6mm. Before flanges were butted. Is this ok has anyone else had a replacement cat fitted in this way. Or will it vibrate loose or cause corrosion of down pipe flange. Also they have put sealant on front joint between cat and downpipe.

Drivers side wiper linkage ball joint excessive end play. S Reg Seat Alhambra. Is it necessary to remove linkage assembly to repair or can the joint only be removed. Can anyone add detail as to how repair is carried out, using a screw to reduce end float. Regards Dieselalhambra
