Hi, I have the exact same problem but with different fault code OXO10E What was the overall cost for fixing the TCM?

Hi, Any advise is appreciated. After 1 hour drive on the motorway I came to my first stop on the junction. When moving off, the car jerked as if the first gear failed to engage, then immediatly within 1 second it was fine. This happened for 5/6 more times and then stopped. On the way back, Came onto the motorway and then I realise the car is stuck at 3rd gear and will not change to 4th. I stopped at the next service station for 10 minutes, and after that it was fine. 2 Days later the dashboard gearbox light is on. 1. Is it a sign that the gearbox oil needs changing. 2. Some electronic sensor is playing up. 3. Time to have the whole gearbox looked at no matter what the cost! Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks to you all. I am much reassured now as to what I have already purchased is suitable for the Galaxy. I think I'll just take up the last advice. Can't imagine that these days both antifreeze and car manufacturers will make a such a product for only professionals in garages to handle! They surely would recognise that any motorist can simply refil the antifreeze and as such todays antifreeze are most likely made for people like me to refil any modern street car. Thus, the orange coloured antifreeze is going in to top up the existing pink/purple antifreeze in my reservoir tank.
-
Can I do this? Is there a sump plug somewhere under the radiater itself? If so where?
-
 So, what you're saying is orange antifreeze exist in the market and I can mix it with the existing pink/purple antifreeze already in my coolant system!! And of course to mix it 50/50 with water. Is tap water ok? :)
-
I have been reading some of these other threads about antifreeze, and the impression I got was NOT to mix antifreeze colours! Is my orange antifreeze likely to turn into pink/purple colour once it is mixed with the existing pink/purple antifreeze in the resevior? Plus, does anyone know if these galaxy engines are of aluminium, because it clearly states on the bottle that it's for that particular engine use only.
-
My 52 reg Ghia Galaxy auto 2.3Litre, already has what seems to be pink/purple coloured antifrezee. It has gone below the indicated level, so I went and bought 'Ethylene Glycol' OAT Technology antifreeze designed for aluminium engines and it indicates that it meets specification for: FORD WSS-M 97B44-D. The make is 'Granville Antifreeze and Summer Coolant and upon opening the lid it seems to be of ORANGE colour although the droplets on the inner side of the bottle cap is pink! Anyone got any idea as to what is the correct antifreeze for my Galaxy and is the one I have OK for my Galaxy? Thanks ^_^

Skweaky Noise From Left Front Side
Keanu replied to Keanu's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It turned to be the left front shock absorbers leaking. Had them both side changed and now it seems the skweaky noise is gone. -
It's got to be the Link Rod above the front wheels. You can easily see one vertically connected above the wheels. A similar knocking nois occured to my previous galaxy and once it was changed the Knock dissapeared for good.

Changed both front Upper Suspension bush. There is still an anoying skweaky noise when I turn the steering to the right, during extreme low speed, say during a 3 point turn. It also occassionaly skweaks during left turn, but mostly skweaks during right turn! One garage say's its the power steering pump, another says its the shock absorber and of course the bush was also suggested and completed with no luck yet. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

All it needed was a bit of WD-40 Spray and now the pedal is soft as it should be. Thanks

Thanks guy's, I'll get back to you soon after I check your suggestions out.

Hi Has any one got an answer to why the accelerator pedal is quite 'stiff' (heavy) on 2.3 Ghia petrol 52 reg model? I've always thought this was normal but recently more than 4 friends of mine pointed out that it was "too stiff" than most other cars/or galaxies that have driven. The other thing noticed was that I would keep on pressing hard for 2 to 3 seconds and then ease off slightly and all of a sudden the galaxy would speed up! Any advice would much appreciated. Thanks

Today the wipers were working as normal on every setting during my drive home from work. When I parked my car, I decided to check the wipers again, BUT they stopped working once again.!? This is very weird. :46: I've decided to buy a new motor, and will report back with the result. I will try and if there is any water damage to the motor.
-
I doubt its a grease issue because when it does work the wiper turns without any shudder or noise and just does on full wipe and stops at park position again and dies for next few days. Some of my friends indicate it might be to do with relays? Is that a possibility and where are the relays for the wiper?
-
Does that mean I can just try replacing the controller on the motor or do I have to change the whole motor?
-
Hi, I've read several threads here to see if I could resolve my wiper mystery, but finally decided to ask you guys for help. It all started a month ago when the FREEZING weather came. My Front wiper will NOT operate. Stoped the galaxy 1.9TDi 1999 Deisel auto, to have a look at the fuses under the steering wheel and every single fuse including the specific fuse for front wiper (NO 29) were in good order. Infact, when I took out the no 29 fuse the front washer and rear wiper would not work, but does when reinserted. Almost every day I would leave the Wiper Stalk to ON position and on any speed setting and occassionaly it would turn the wiper just for one stroke then it would die for next few days. This kept on happening in rain and icey conditions. I've changed the stalk switch

The other morning, I heard a fast spinning motor noise coming from below the nearside REAR passenger door. When I got out and turned of the galaxy with the key out and went to look, I saw small amount of smoke coming out from a small tube and the spinning noise was quite fast and loud, as if a jet plane is about to take off!!! :16: It seems this tube is there for the extraction of some sort of excess smoke. Is it a mechanism associated with the exhuast system? What could it be?
-
I don't like the sound of this!!!! ;) I hear a starter motor is expensive. What's the price tag for a deisel engine starter motor? <
-
It pretty much happens at any time it chooses to! :18: On cold mornings the engine starts at first ignition turn, and once I have driven it for a while until the engine temprature reads average, stop the car and go to the shops, and when I return it fails to make an ignition, but hold the key turned for several seconds and all of a sudden it starts! It was fully service a month ago. The engine makes NO NOISE when the ignition key is fully turned, I could hear my thoughts!!! Will look at the flashing LED next time. Does that suggest the immoboliser is playing around? And yes occassionally I have moved the gear stick from Park to Neutral and it will start, BUT not always. I have a feeling it may be the ignition switch in steering column NOT making full contact, as Big Kev suggested, does anyone else reckon that may be the culprit?
