thanks all !!!! been getting used to the search & i good majority have been asked & pointers given .... very helpful.... i did some routine work yesterday , oil etc , dropped the sump just in case ... good job i did , one of the retaining bolts for the bottom plate was just lying in the sump !!! & some bright spark had made a hole in the strainer , i am thinking low oil pressure at some stage ... , she seems fine now. i also have a confestion , inner CV boot had split , after searching on a few topics , i got i idea of how to remove .... Driveshaft of ok , took a few mins to work out how to drop off the knuckle ... that cir clip was a bit fiddly ... got there eventually ... spent the next 30 to 40 mins trying to open the clip so i could reassemble ... then worked out i could just line up & push on !!!!! lol boy did i feel a plonker ... DOH !!!! anyways thanks for the welcome ... cheers

hi can i ask a silly question ...... i have just bought a '99 2.3 Zetec , i want to do some routine maintanence .. all the filters , oil etc & after reading a few threads i am considering droping the sump to make sure there's no rubbish. is there a gasket ? don't want to drop over xmas & find i need one , my local ford dealers are the best , lol also i posted a question about my alternator belt , i think i have found the tenstioner but does anybody have a pic they could post of the layout so i can be 100% ??? i have ordered TIS from ebay ...... thanks all mostin

hi all i have done a search , or think i have !! on how to change my alternator belt ... could anybody point me in the right direction ? not bad with a spanner , but looking for any do's & don'ts ... i currently have the dreaded squeal when the engine under load !!! why does it get worse when there's lots of people around ???lol i have a manual on it's way from ebay .... thanks for any help mostin
