  1. I have had the same problem and drove around for a couple of weeks hoping that it would start working or was a fuse or something. In my case it was a wire that comes from the body to the boot door at the top right that had broken due to fatigue of opening/closing. Its not difficult to join again - once you get the boot open. My solution was to pull (or rip) open the trim (on the inside) and get my arm down to where the lock is. If you can manage this it is relatively easy to pull a lever and it will open as if you were using the key from the outside. The trouble is that you will almost certainly do some damage to the internal trim - but for me that was a price worth paying. Because you cannot access the screws that hold the trim with the door shut I think some damage is inevitable but perhaps someone has a better way - I would guess you could make a small hole with the right sort of saw. Good Luck Tony
  2. The power has been rubbish on my 1999 110 Tdi recently so reading up on things here I decided it sounds like it must need a new MAF. GSF had new ones only
  3. Sorry EVSS, I didnt realise I could have got one through you or I would have done as was really pleased when you guys solved a wiper electrics problem I had before. The Cobra 1046 has arrived now and as suggested the wiring instructions are suitably vague so if anyone can help with a few more practical indications of what wire to connect to which in a Gal that would be really useful. Have discovered that my Gal is actually a 1999 110 Tdi Zetec, she's having her MoT done today and already needs exhast bits, track rod end and some tyres so looking a bad month. Cheers Tony
  4. I've just ordered a Cobra 1046 for converting to remote control on the existing central locking from incardiscount.co.uk am I likely to get enough information with the unit to install it in my year 2000 1.9Tdi or do I need to beg some extra info as Paul had? Thanks Tony
  5. Would be interested to know how you got on Paul. I've had a problem with lock barrels recently and am fed up anyway why Ford would fit central locking without a remote so need to find an easy remote system to install and the Cobra sounds as good as any. Cheers Tony
  6. You guys are amazing - thought I had been through all the fuses twice as these seem the most likely cause. Anyway it was a fuse exactly as suggested above ie No 28. Much celebration here as wife and kids love their Galaxy and not my rover which they say smells bad!
  7. OK So I have no front wipers, no front wash, no rear wipers and no rear wash on a T reg Galaxy 1.9Tdi and have checked all the fuses inc the 3 that seem to be relevant ie 20,24,33. :o From various pages on the website it would seem that it could be: Relays - after some struggle with the ECM unit under the drivers dash, I dont seem to have the relays 11 and 167 quoted elsewhere presumably these vary from model to model 109,168 and 185 seem to be the bigger relays that are accesible. So I bought a Haynes manual expecting it to have some explainations. Was amazed at the poor quality compared to ones I have used before ie on minis, rovers and cavaliers and am considering asking for a refund. there is more info on this website for sure. Though 185 seems to appear on the wash wipe cituit it also appears everywhere in things that are working so suspect it is not this one. I suspect it is relays so can anyone advise? Seized Wiper linkage - the wiper linkages can get stuck and this is covered on a couple of postings - I suspect this may be the route cause of my problems as I wasnt actually in the country when my wife reported having troubles Wiper motor control unit - this seems likely if the wipers move a bit then stop but could be expensive so unlikely to be my problem I hope. Anything else anyone knows about? Any help on relays or likely cause much appreciated. My EC unit pulled down looks as below :o
