In this frosty weather just realised the drivers side of the heated front screen is not working. LH & RH sides are fused separately, both fuses are ok. Anyone had a similar problem? Anyone know which relay/s control the front screen heater elements? Anyone know where I can access a wiring diagram for this vehicle? I know I could take it to the dealer but I haven't yet found a good one!

Since new my 2008 tdci automatic seems to hold off changing to a higher gear, especially after the first start of the day. I find myself travelling on the flat at 30 mph willing the gearbox to change up a gear - even coming off the throttle doesn't seem to help it change. Can anyone confirm whether this is normal for the vehicle? Thanks.

After the first 6000ml oil change on an 08 TDCi I've noticed a drop in MPG. Driving style etc has not altered. I've used the correct grade oil but not Ford. Has anyone else noticed mpg has been affected by different oils used?
-
You all seem to be missing the point here! It's the oil service message with picture of a spanner that is coming on and it means it is time to get the oil service (that means oil and filter change) done. I needed to know how to reset that oil service message once the oil and filter had been changed. However, I now know the answer and for anyone else who needs to know, here it is: Ignition to position 2 Press brake pedal and accelerator pedal down together for 15 seconds after which you get a message telling you that oil service light has been reset. Hope this will help others when the time comes.

Quite - probably because it's due an oil service, but my question was and is, if anyone knows how the oil service warning can be reset.

Anyone help on how to reset the oil service light (come on after first 6,000 miles) on a 2008 Galaxy TDCi, please?

New Galaxy Touch Screen Sat Nav
melo replied to peter.soper's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
The screen brightness can be adjusted in day and night modeAccessed via Menu - Display Mine does Accessed via Menu - Map Melo -
Finally got my sat nav manual today after a lot of obvious bull from my dealer. Not sure it was really worth the wait but it has proved useful as to how to alter the screen brightness. Can't believe I didn't sus it out before. I assume you've now got this sorted too Wibble? Melovelo

You're a lucky chap! I'm still waiting for mine. It turns out the chap I was dealing with has left the main dealers and seems he told a few porkies before he went. I'm assured the manual is now ordered and I should see it soon. I'm sure someone will offer the answer to ejecting the dvd, I'll put the feelers out with a few people I know in the trade and see what comes back. Out of interest, does your Galaxy have the electric parking brake? If so you may be able to answer my question on this forum. Cheers

Can anyone confirm the correct operation of the electric parking brake warning light on an 08 Galaxy? When turning engine off and removing key the parking brake automatically applies and a red warning symbol on the dash illuminates. I need to know if this symbol then stays illuminated continually, goes off when the vehicle is locked or goes off after a set period of time. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Aah, hadn't seen that one. Knob comes off ok, just got to grit your teeth (not round the knob) and pull straight. Feels like it's the wrong thing to do but it comes off ok. Then put small screwdriver or something into hole left by knob and gently ease the plastic panel outwards from the top. You'll find there is a spring attached to back of panel that holds it in. This spring is positioned downwards when replacing, fit lower edge of panel back in pushing panel slightly downwards and it jumps back in ok. Trouble is, you can see the dvd but how it ejects is another question. Slowly, slowly and we'll get there. Why is it when we get these new toys we have to take them apart?

Model is fitted to Galaxy and Mondeo from what I've seen and is Ford HSRNS. I found the model etc here http://www.blaupunkt.com/de/7612300530_main.asp, though no useful downloads available that I can see. I'm going to hassle the Ford dealer tomorrow to see if the manual can be chased up. If and when I get anything I'll let you know. I understand what you're saying about the dimming, don't know that I've found a way of dimming just the satnav screen. I think I've been through just about every menu now too.

You can dim the screen with the dashlights dimmer control

Just noticed my 2 week old Galaxy has a red brake warning light staying on when car is parked and locked. Pretty sure this wasn't happening when I first got the car. Can anyone verify whether this light ( comes on when EPB is applied ) should stay on or go off when car is locked, before I go back to dealer.

I've just got my new galaxy with dvd satnav too. My dealer told me Ford don't give any satnav info, it all comes direct from Blaupunkt through the post. Don't know how long it takes, mine is 2 weeks old now and no satnav info yet. Apparently to access the DVD you have to remove the black panel below the screen and I was told there is a 'way' to do this - I think the 'way' is in the satnav manual. I don't think you can add poi's etc. Factory fitted satnav is nowhere near the much cheaper add-on units for what you can do with them. However, I am pleased with the dvd satnav / audio in the galaxy. Just be even happier to get the instruction manual! Oh, I think the aux input is on righthand side of glovebox.

Can't help on that one, but it surely must be able to show miles. Out of interest, and before I order the DVD Sat Nav, can you tell me whether it shows speed cameras and if so how easy to update information? Mel
