Hi Gregers I am in Luton. You're right about the blame culture, both KF and JT said as much. I might try North London back streets as you suggest, Comhander

Hi all Does anyone know how/where to get part worn tyres fitted. Both local fitters Kwick-Fit + Just tyres refused. Any suggestions? Here's hoping

Hi Didn't think VAG-COM works with petrol engines? The fault readings were done when I had the Gearbox rebuilt and this suggested the recirculation flap was showing a fault. I presumed this to be the reason for the flashing panel and prior to compressor failure the air con worked fine with the fp. I'm not sure how to get to the recirc flap, which I am told is in the heater plenum, or what I am expecting to see?

I found this cat on ebay, not used this seller but over 6000 feedback and 99.3% http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=130286765736 and this is the front pipe I think. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-GALAXY-2-3i-16v...%3A4%7C294%3A30 Not sure how this compares for price but its a guide maybe? Good luck and let us know how you get on.

How Do You Remove Air Con Compressor Pump?
Comhander replied to Ga73's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Can only answer the first question about removal. This was for a 2.3 MkII Galaxy. But should be similar for others. Remove engine tray. Remove OS wheel. Remove compressor electrical connection. Remove brackets/clips on compressor securing feed/return and water pipes. 10mm Remove feed/return connector plate at rear of compressor. 10mm I think Remove compressor retaining bolts (leave one almost off). 13mm Release belt tension by using a socket/ring spanner on tensioner(leave belt in situ.) I wedged mine up by using a linked ring spanner and propping on suspension frame. 17mm I think Remove final compressor retaining bolt and wriggle compressor from belt. The alternator and everything else was untouched. Hope this helps  -
The clutch plate moves freely by hand, the splines are good and there is power going to the connector to the sie of the pulley. The Compressor pulley has no play. Not sure what else I can say. Thanks

I have a 2001 Mk11 2.3 Auto Galaxy with Air Con fron and Rear (Climate Control). Recently the Air Con made a horrible noise from the Compressor location and caused the engine to stall. Since then when switching to auto mode it makes no difference to the blower temperature (ambient). The electrics to the Compressor seem fine and on running the engine whilst examining the Compressor nothing happens to the spindle to engage the clutch. I therefore suspect the Compressor. Is there any way to test this further or should i just replace the Compressor and get it regassed? The other fault also Air con is that a diagnostics reading suggests a problem with the Recirculation valve/flap. Anybody know where this is and how to go about changing/testing this? Any help appreciated as I need Aircon!!!! Thanks

There is an overrun pump for the cooling system which can be heard when you switch the engine and electrics off. If this is not shutting down when it should it could be slowly draining your battery. Is the fault more noticeable if you leave the car standing? ie not driven every day. This pump can be found back right of engine compartment. Check this and if not I would suggest a good battery check is needed.

What Revs Should We Expect?
Comhander replied to Becki's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Becki On my 2.3 auto the revs are 3200 at 70 mph. I was told this is the correct level for the AG4 box when I had it rebuilt. Therefore 3000 at 60mph seems about right. As for the changing gear at 4500 this does seem excessive unless you are in sport mode! Mine normally changes up based on speed of car and not the rev level. If driving in granny mode this is normally about 2000 -2500 revs in each gear (35 to 40mph) going into top gear. Regards -
Autobox Knackered At 36k Miles?
Comhander replied to mumof4's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi This sounds very similar to my recent experience. Drive went in top gear and started slipping prior to finally engaging. 47k covered on warranty, or so I thought. Turns out to be torque converter lock up clutch(es). Rebuilt for -
Auto Gearbox - Problems

An update to the problem: Finally went into limp mode so I had the box inspected by a specialist and advised that the Torque converter lock up clutches were causing the problem. Luckily I have warranty to cover some of -
Auto Gearbox - Problems
Comhander replied to Comhander's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The lights are normally illuminated with the current position shown with an illuminated Square. Lights still come on but the square just flashes quickly before disappearing when the ignition is switched on? Thanks for the garage north of Letchworth I will try an online search. -
Hi all I am hoping someone may be able to shed some light on the problems I have with my MkII Galaxy 2.3 4 Speed Tiptronic Auto gearbox. Where do I begin? Started slipping whilst going into 4th gear then: When in Drive it seems to be stuck in 2nd and/or 3rd and Tiptronic function does not work up or down. Dash Indicator does not show which gear the car is in although PRND4321 are all illuminated. Normally indicated by highlighted square over current gear position Footbrake lock only works once when the ignition is switched on and will then let me move freely from P to 1, including straight into R!! Luckily I have not done this whilst moving forward. Management Information Light is illuminated and a basic OBD Reader indicates 1 fault P700. The book that came with it indicates 'Transmission Control System (MIL request)' I have checked all fuses and connections to gearbox and gear seclector and all seem ok. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated and if major works are likely anybody know of a decent garage to carry out the work, in the Luton area. Here's hoping :D

Thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on it as all wiper speeds worked fine when I turned the car on this morning  . Worked fine all day so I don't want to risk making it worse Cheers
-
The stalk is one unit. Both sides. So unless it is wiring connection/loom I can replace the stalk. Just seen tomorrows weather - looks like I'm a Wally Wiper ;) Hope the linkage can hold out.
-
Hi Rusty Thanks I will look tomorrow. May be lucky if it's the stalk cos I bought a new one recently to attempt a cc conversion at a later date. I'll let you know.

Hi all I have read the FAQ and there does not appear to be any similar. My problem: Front wipers do not work on once by pushing lever down, intermittent or speed 1. However they do work on Wally wipers(fast). Rear wipers and front/rear washers still work. Checked all possible fuses and seem ok. Not had the chance to check anything else as it is too dark to see. Question: 1. If it was the motor would they not work on any setting? 2. What else could it be? Any help appreciated as it won't stop raining!! Thanks all

Thanks Saves me spending unnecessary money on the cables and software. Of to the Main Stealers for me then!! Regards

Been reading all these posts about VAG COM and it seems you are all TDI owners. Will this bit of kit work for a Ford 2.3 auto Mk11? Engine Mangement light is on and although the car runs fine it would be nice to find out the problem(s) without going to Main Stealers. Any help appreciated - also if it does work is anybody near Luton with VAG COM. Regards

Drive Shaft Cv Gater
Comhander replied to Rusty Nail's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Got them very quickly but not fitted as yet - waiting for the weather - Garage full of other stuff!!. My car is just rumbling and has not given up the ghost just yet. I do not envisage any problems as the first reply to your original question seems to list all we need to know. Good luck. -

Spot on with No. 5 replaced and working. Thanks Kev. Would you happen to know which 3 connectors I should use on an original parking sensor switch and 5 connections numbered 1-5 on the new switch? I have 3 cables Red, Green and Black. My system seems to be live all the time on reverse and the switch is needed for the front - is this normal? 2001 2.3i Auto Ghia
-
Hi Hoping someone is able to help. Car 2001 2.3iAuto Ghia Problem: Whilst refitting radio/Air Con facia I shorted out the wires from the Parking Sensor switch. Having done this the car will not start. Other factors: No green footbrake indicator on speedo - shows needs footbrake to move from Park. Non standard Parking Sensor switch - Illuminated switch - 4 connections 3 used - no Ford connector - spades used. Questions: What fuse is likely to control the parking sensors? How is it linked to the ignition? Any other questions or suggestions? Here's hoping

Wow, all this over a colour. Although I agree that although there is only one black. It could be Matt, Gloss, Hi-Gloss, Metallic, Pearlescent or any other name that sounds more interesting. In my reply I was attempting to provide info regarding the possible 'Limited Edition' status. The colour range for MK2's states 'Solid Black' and is not 'Limited'. I like this it is fun.
