Thanks for the reply Ivor, Have just realised that I had not updated my vehicle type in my profile, have amended now. The report was done when the previous owner last had it serviced at his local ford dealer, the gearbox bit was just one of a few things mentioned. hence I believe the reason for sale. :( :( :(

Hi all, I have just bought a second hand Galaxy and I have found a ford inspection report dated 4 weeks before I bought it. One of the things that was mentioned on it was an oil leak from the transmission that requires a chest gasket. Does anyone know where this gasket is and what's involved in replacing this gasket. One of the problems I am experiencing is a loss of drive when when pulling away, this is most noticeable when approaching a roundabout and not fully stopped, when you pull away the revs increase but drive doesn't kick in for 2 to 3 seconds. am suspect that this may be due to the afore mentioned oil leak and that the gearbox is running low on oil. Am I right in thinking that the oil level can only be checked by a dealer. Any thoughts or opinions would be most appreciated. Cheers

Hi Bri, I have just bought an X reg Diesel Auto and experience the same problem, up until now I thought it to be completely random, but having tested it by putting into reverse whilst still creeping forward have managed to recreate it twice. Did you ever find a resolution with your car, I am just about to go back to the trader who I bought the car from so would welcome any info possible.
