Hi everyone I wonder if you can shed some light. When I bought my 2003 TDI just over a year ago the panel flashed indicating no pressure, knowing these cars suffer with the aircon I just resigned myself to it not working and having quite a few other areas of the car to spend money on it went to the back of the queue. However seeing Qwik-fit had an offer on that if they couldnt improve the aircon there was no charge for a regass I figured it was worth a go. Yesterday they spent an hour vaccuming and recharging and straight away to my suprise it kicked in blowing a lovely cold 6 degrees, still a little dubious and suspecting it to leak out I bought a pressure guage from halfords and checked the system there and then, it read a steady 30psi. However, for the rest of the day the air coming out gradually seemed to get warmer and warmer and this morning it seems almost warm again, I have rechecked the pressure in exactly the same circumstances and its fluctuating between 29 - 33 psi. The compressor seems to be running quite happily. What could cause the gradual decline within 24 hours if its not pressure loss and do the small fluctuations have anything to do with it as I dont recall it fluctuating yesterday? Hi everyone, just wondering what the latest available version of TIS is? I'm looking for it for my 2003 TDI Gal but the only ones on flee-bay only seem to cover up to 2002. Hi, i'm just fitting a new turbo to my 1.9 tdi 2003 gal, i have fitted a new oil feed pipe and will be changing the oil/filter prior to running, i was just wondering what the easiest thing to disconnect would be so that I can crank the engine to both confirm and fill the oil feed pipe, many thanks.

I have noticed that it does seem to be worse after it has warmed up, when first starting out it seems to be ok. Probably didnt notice this before as was normally starting out from home (when cold) and its all short windy roads for the first mile.

Hi, Hoping someone can help . . . I have a 2001 1.9 TDi with a 5 sped tip box which has started to slip on acceleration through all gears, mainly at higher revs (2500 - 3000 upwards), if you let the revs drop it seems to pick up drive again. Switching to tip indicates whichever gear is active is still engaged and am able to manually select all gears through tip but still loses drive at higher revs. I have checked the fluid level as per the forums and tis, a small amount came out when I took the level plug out, which was not quite black but very very dark in colour. (smelt putrid as well)!!! I am wondering if anyone else experienced similar problems? and if its possible that a fluid change/flush might sort the problem, I have spoken to a couple of gearbox places who seem happy to write the box/torque convertor/ECU off for varying amounts between

I have a Genuine Vag-Com Serial lead which worked fine with my old company laptop. Since changing jobs and getting a new laptop (with NO Serial Port) I have tried connecting to the car via a USB to Serial convertor. Now even though the Vag-Com software recognises the Lead/Dongle it is unable to match the Baud rate of nearly all modules. I'm going to try again tonight with both the USB and Serial versions of the software but just wondered if anybody had any other ideas I could try. P.S. having changed the glow plug in the Aux Heater I need to clear the fault codes so the missus can keep warm in the coming snow so any ideas much appreciated.

Hi folks, I am planning to change the timing belt on my 2001(Y) 1.9 TDi this weekend, and, after speaking to Lloyd at Hans Motors he gave me two prices for parts. Both included the tensioner and relay roller but one also included a Timing Belt Vibration Damper. Does anyone know if this should also be changed as a matter of course? I have searched the forums but only found a couple of references to red dust which may have come from the damper. I was maybe thinking of changing the alternator belt & tensioner also, while I'm there. Many thanks for any help.

there wasn't too much smoke and it seemed to be coming from the nearside more than the offside.

After parking the Gal having driven round toys r us car park for about 10 mins i noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet and the smell of diesel, had a quick look under the bonnet but couldn't see anything. I drove home and opened the bonnet again and took of the engine and battery cover, had a good look but could see no sign of the leak and no smoke or smell this time. Anybody had any similar things happen.

Does anyone know if the infra red on the original fit monitors will work with infra red headphones or will i need to add a base unit too?

Ok, have finally picked up new car, Gal TDi Ghia 2001(Y) with Rear Climate + Multimedia screens. When I got home I realised there was no manual for the video screens in with the handbook etc. Is this normal or did fraud supply an extra book to over this.

Should be picking new car up on saturday, reading the replies looks like rear climate is worth it, (until it goes wrong :( ). Will post another reply once we've had chance to test it properly. Cheers

Thanks for all the replies, have done the deal on the the car and should be collecting this saturday, 2001 (Y) 35k 1.9 TD Ghia with Video Screens and Rear Climate. Looks like I have lots of options to customise the AV :( Also looks like the credit card is gonna get hammered :D

Thanks again Ivor (meeting all over the place. What I noticed with my last one that didn't have Rear Climate was that the rearmost passengers took a long time to feel the effects of the cold air from the front. I wondered if having their own vents really did make a difference. Is it the same basic aircon system or is it uprated to take the extra load. Cheers

However I have a couple of questions: 1) How easy is it to convert to/add DVD player. 2) Is it possible to plug playstation into the system. 3) Is there any potential problems I should be aware of.
