Have You tried the central locking/courtesy light controller (Usually under the front passenger seat)? Slide the seat forwards as far as it will go and remove the floor panel under the rear of the seat. There is a black box with two multi-plugs. this fails when it gets wet and Galaxies are notorious for this. Water comes through the dash bulkhead and down into the front footwell and slops over, on acceleration, into this area. (newer models have this gizmo sited up under the drivers dash to keep it dry).
