The Barge Captain

Hi all. Looks as though the stat in the cooling system is jammed open as takes around 30 mins to reach operating temp at the moment. ( not helped by the fact that the aux heater is FUBAR) Just the sort of job I'd love to do in this weather. I've looked through the FAQ's but didn't see anything. Any quick tips and hints? Merry Christmas to you all.

Whilst searching for a puncture tonight, i noticed that there seems to be a small amount of air leaking from the metal air valves on the rim (around the 14mm nut) Is this common and are replacements easily avalible from Ford? Tyre has to come off anyway to be repaired (I hope!) so I assume it wouldn't be too dificult to replace the valve body at the same time?

Ahhh.... Wish i'd logged on and looked at this before i bought the one on e-bay :lol: Ho hum

Hi Guys. I've read through enough posts to be sure that the white smoke coming from the aux heater exhaust is probably a failed glow plug. I'm going to pull fuse 12 for now. Where is the best / cheapest place to order a new glow plug from. and is there a how to.. on this forum somewhere? 04 115 tdi Many thanks The barge captain.

I need to replace the front pads on my 1.9 tdi. Any recomendations as to which brand or am i best buying FMC ones? Any guide on costs? Ta muchly.

Not having a haynes manual for the car (52 1.6 focus) I need to know how to take up the slack in the handbrake as it needs about 8 clicks until it holds on. If it auto adjusters in the drum, what a pig it looks to be to get the drum off. 4 thin nuts ! Is there a how to section anywhere? All advise, procedures gratefully accepted. Cheers

Ours wouwld suffer from power loss, turned out to be the turbo, not just the usual valve problem.

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will enjoy it and find lots of useful information and advise. Can't believe that your wife's being driving it for 3 years and hasn't pranged it yet.....you must have got one of the good ones. Could be a record...the ladies on here regularly back into something.....no pun intended. I never said she hadn't pranged it - didn't put the handbrake on well enough on a hill and it rolled back into a VW beetle and scraped the bumper. Regards kev

The Ford is a great tool for moving the family around in, and in 3 years and 15K it's only got through a set of tyres a windscreen and a turbo (warrenty thank goodness)
