Well since greasing mine last June , its ceased again ,,,, i re-greased 1 month ago and it seazed again !! seems the twisting action pushes the grease out , and if the seal is worn , rain water just poors in and flushes the grease ou even more !! Going to have to try and do a more better repair i think !!

Many thx guys, I have called a scrappy ,who the galaxy door with a manual window, its 30 miles away , so not sure of its condition , they said its in green , my Sharan is green , are there many different green shades for the galaxay ?? whats the chances of the same shade of green as my Sharan ??

Long story cut short Wife smaked my 1999 sharan tdi SE against the drives iron gates/posts,,, severe nsr door damage , and a bent 2"x1/4" iron drive gate Also door handle completely ripped off , with damaged internal door release mechanism,A MESS !! So a complete new rear door is required. I have sourced a 1998 Ford Galaxy rear door , my question is A: Will a 1997 galaxy nsr door fit a 1999 Sharan B:The repalcement Galaxy door has a manual window, where as mine is Electric , but not bothered as long as the door loom connector is the same? ie central locking will still work Are there any other potential problems, ??? many thx Paul

Hi Mirez, thankyou for the reply , I did some web searching after i posted , and indeed your right !! I removed the steeerng wheel airbag yesturday , and the unit behind the airbag was all thick with guey green stuff , almost as ifthte grease had gone off and was hardened !!! it really was terrible , i gave it all good clean up and a re-lube with silicone grease , Reset the airbag light with vagcom , and so far so good !! cheers

I got the airbag warning light on the dash , with error 00588-Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N95) 32-10-Resistance too High - intermittent Now i can clear the code but it returns shortly after !!! I have checked under the drivers seat, where there is a recess , there are x2 fuses , both ok I have tried to locate the airbag seat wire, I notice there is a wire that dissapears under the carpet that goes back towards the car, Can anyone tell me where the wire to seat is please ? thx 1999 1.9tdi AFN

thx sure i can take some photos, will do it tonight , will be in situe mind , so harder to see the mod , but you will get the general idea im sure. I Really couldnt beleive the amount of water that the scuttle shelf ( the shelf that lifts away to gain access to the wiper motor) held directly under the wiper control box, and the fact it was high enough to enter the wiper control electronics !!!!!

I removed my wiper motor and mechanism to lube it all up recently, When removing the scuttle shelf ( the shelf that collects water and stops water from enerting the engine bay ) i notice some water pour off it as i removed it and it had not been raining for a few days !!!! Then upon removing the wiper motor and i removed control module casing , i could see water was clearly entering the module , I then also noticed that the wiper module would sit in water that would collect below it, on the scuttle shelf !! Arghhhhhhh great design that !! So my modification was to drill a hole in the scuttle shelf where the water collected and attach a drain pipe, i also used silicone sealant on the wiper module plastic casing, and sealed up the single drain hole , as i felt this was letting water in rather than keeping it out !!! When i test the wipers with a hose pipe on slow, the water now pours out of my drain pipe at the bottom of the car !! I feel this is a design error , that water collects on the scuttle shelf and the wiper motor control module sits in it !! It also explians why so many wipers fail in heavy rain !!!

according to your signature youa re a 1.9tdi owner, , a 1.9tdi as i understand has a seperate belt , just for the power steering pump only , and is not part of the alternator ( or air con if fitted) drive belt !!! This is simple to adjust , 13mm spanner is all required , but dont over tighten !!!!

Just done some re-search on the best grease to use in this application , and this looks like good stuff !! just in the proces of doing my wipers, the passengers was basically siezed !! Just waiting for a new o ring that was damaged by corrosion !!! thx again :-)

I have had trouble with my sharan wipers , i removed the motor , and serviced it , ( im a electrician), but stil problems!!! i did not think of checking the spindles , So took apart the wipers last night after seeing this thread, and couldnt beleive that one side had almost seized completely !!! , 30 mins later and wd40 it was out , filed . cleaned , then wet&dry , and packed LM high pressure bearing water proof grease. However the small rubber o ring seal is damaged , after searching Ebay I found some that should fit , they are 16mm dia , x 1mm thick , I can post the link here if anyone needs to replce the O ring !!! thx again !!!

Hi Guys , I have a AFN sharan , and it too has the hot start problem, I think the 250rpm thing is the problem , the starters work however over the years they just wont hit the 250 mark , A recon starter may still not reach the 250rpm ,, Geoffc, did you solve the issue m8 ? any info be geat !!! cheers Paul
