I was wondering if anyone was able to confirm if its possible to register/re-program new keys via VAG or OBD-II or if I can get another key cut and programmed from VW? I already know what frauds will say cos they tried to sting me for

Hi, I have an intermitant problem with Central locking from Drivers door on a MK1 Galaxy(its been going on for a few months on and off). After driving, I try to lock the car from drivers door and the only drivers door locks. but there is a delay of a minute or two before the rest of the doors lock - without any further turns of the key (and the light on the drivers door doesn't flash). When I try and unlock the doors sometimes it unlocks all doors while other times it unlocks the drivers door only. if use the passenger door to lock the car, it locks all doors accept the drivers door. again when this happens the flashing light on drivers door doesn't operate. if I wait serveral hours after driving and then try to use the drivers door, it operates as expected (but sounds like the battery is almost flat as the central locking operates slowly) if I operate central locking from the passenger side it appears to lock/unlock without issue. as I say the problem is intermitant but now appears to be more often than not, Any ideas on what the problem is? thanks in advance!

Do you mean temp. Sensor or Sender? The sender is the one responsible for sending to your temprature gauge! The Temp Sender is around

I have a problem with my 96 Galaxy 2.0 Petrol. if I start the car (from cold) and then I move the steering wheel the reviews drop off immediately and car stalls. Also if I rev the car on releasing the pedal the revs immediately drop to 0 then jump back to around 800-1000rpm. If I wait until the engine has warm the it doesn't happen. Any Ideas on what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

Help With Reversing Lights Please
purct replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have a MK1 Galaxy 2.0 Petrol and the reversing lights wouldn't stay on when engaging the reverse gear, so I had a look at the weekend! Basically the reverse light switch is a bit difficult to get to but I did it in the end. (I found the best way to get at it was to put the car in reverse and then disconnect the rubber pipe from the secondary intake pump?? mounted in the gap between the battery and engine (above the gearbox). then unplug the light switch electrics then using a long screwdriver to carefully unclip the switch from the gearbox. A a small groove had worn in the switch mech. so I found some clear plastic packing (you know that stuff that kids toys are packed in - u need sissors or a knife to get into) I cut a small square that fits over the top of the groove and then superglued it. Waited for glue to dry and then refitted the switch to the gear box. Job Done. With all the messing about it took about an 1hr. -
I had a the same issue with my sharan and it turned out to be the front window. water was running off the roof down the sides of the windows - the adesive that is used to stick the window in had worn. The easiest way to check is to remove the carpets to expose internal bodywork. then use a garden hose to spray water on the screen (helps if you also run the wipers cos it pushes the water to the edge of the window. run the hose for a few minutes. then stop look in the footwells. if nothing is leaking wait 5 mins and check again. if the water appears then you have found the problem. You can fix the problem using external window sealant. Basically you need to remove the wipers and unclip the plastic trim that sits over the wiper motor, then lift the rubber seal the runs down from the roof at the edge of the screen, this exposes the very edge of the window and you should be able to see black sealant/adesive that is holding the window in. get some external window sealant from your local diy store and run it down the edge of the screen. wipe off the excess. wait for it to set and then replace trims etc.

yeap, thats the fella!!! Thanks mumof4! Note to self: Must sort this wiper problem out..........oh and fix the rear demister cos its *stops to think of the technical wording* knackered (someone broke the copper tab off the window!!!!)

Heated Rear Window Not Working
purct replied to jimmyd's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeap! you can repair them with DIY Electrical Window Demister Kit. You can buy them on ebay. good luck -
I have a MK1 Galaxy and the speed of the wipers is fast, regardless of what setting I use. Its just the speed, they function as they should in terms of the setting they are on for example intermittant is every 20/30 seconds but when the wipers goes across the screen they move as fast as the fastest setting. if that makes sense???

1996 Galaxy 2.0 Petrol And Vag-com
purct replied to purct's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Oh! that don't sound good. OK so, if I can use VAGCOM because the ECU isn't a VW. Can anyone recommend what diagnostic tools I should use and what lead I need. I have searched the net but everything is a bit wooly.....at this point I am not even sure if the car is OBD compliant? Anyone here got a MK1 2.0 Pet and reading the ECU???? -
Hi, I have just purchased a VAG-COM Compatible Lead from ebay and have loaded the 409.1 software on my laptop and connected to my 1996 Galaxy 2.0 Petrol. Trying to read fault codes etc. But the only seem to get a response from sensor (for the Instrument panel) and that has now faults reported. For all other scans it says that the Controller didn't respond and re-tries 5 times. I would welcome any ideas on what to try next! I understand that being a Ford Engine I can't engine information from VAGCOM but can someone here confirm what information I should be able to get from it? Thanks

Hi, I wonder if anyone has come across this or has any idea what could be wrong: I am not quite sure out to explain this so Appologies if you don't understand : I have a 1996 Petrol 2.0 GLX Galaxy that has developed a wierd idle problem, any ideas on what could be wrong? When I start the engine from cold, after a couple of seconds the revs drop to 0 for a moment and then correct to normal idle. If I rev the engine on releasing my foot from the pedal the revs drop to 0 then correct to normal idle. if I move the steering wheel then the same thing happens. If I try to drive the car cold it tends to stall if I come to a stop. As the engine warms up the problem lessens i.e. it rpm drops to 100, then 200, then 300 etc. when the car is warm things are fine! Any ideas? Thanks & Regards

Hi, I am considering if its worth me purchasing software to diagnose faults on my 1996 Galaxy 2.0 Petrol. I have had a look about in the forums but I still not sure what I need  (just see links to ebay that say need a cable, but I am not sure on what software and where to get it!!!) and what price I should be looking to pay. If anyone can help or point me in right direction it would be great! Thanks & Regards Terry
