  1. Could there be oil in the Intercooler pipes from when the Turbo gave up?
  2. Galaxy 1.9TDi 110 1998 Three weeks back now, we were driving on the motorway and there was a loss of power followed by a heck of a lot of smoke. I pulled over, turned off the ignition, but the engine carried on running at high revs with smoke billowing out. Not knowing the problem, we legged it and left it running like that for a while. After being rescued and towed to a garage they removed the Turbo unit and said it needed replacing, so I sourced a good second hand unit and fitted it myself. We started the engine on idle for a while, but after revving up a bit more the engine again started giving out white smoke, and carrying on running after switching off, but just for a short while. Any suggestions as to the problem now? I geuss having the engine running at high revs burning oil has damaged something else, but I do not have enough knowledge to work out what! Could it be head gasket, a piston, or just a sensor clogged up somewhere? I am running out of cash and need the car desperately, so any help would be greatly recieved. Thanks, Richard
  3. My Turbo unit has given up on my 1998 19.Tdi 110 Galaxy. A garage has removed the unit, but quoted
  4. Opened my drivers window today and it has stuck in the fully open position. It has done this before, but has usually "fixed" itself after a short while. The motor clicks when you press the switch, so I assume there is power going to it. Because it is fully down I can't get the glass out and therefore can't take the motor and mechanism out of the door Any ideas?
  5. :) My ABS warning light has come on. I know in the past this has been caused by a faulty ABS sensor. From the Haynes manual they look easy to replace, but how do I tell which, if any, is faulty? It would save me having to take the car to the garage to be fixed, especially as I am staying in Germany for a few months. Richie Rich
  6. I want to get some roof bars for my Galaxy (with roof rails fitted), but don't want to spend an awful lot. I have found some Paddy Hopkirk bars (LM503GX) that are supposed to fit any Ford with roof rails for
  7. Had the Ford garage run a check. They say that the sensor on the throttle pedal is defective and have quoted me
  8. Yes it a 1998 Tdi. I have replaced the MAF recently and this made a big improvement, but it has not affected the stuttering.
  9. On (fairly) hard acceleration the engine seems to stutter and I have to lift off. Sometime the engine seems to go into a 'safe mode' where the revs cut to about 1100 and stay there. I have to pull over and switch off the engine to reset. What is going on, help!!
  10. If you are still looking there are often rear seats for sale on ebay (although there are none at the moment). Richie Rich.
  11. I read in the Daily express the other day that the government were banning tinted windows due to a number of accidents were the driver couldn't see clearly. There was a story of a Voyager owner who had to remove the factory fitted film (an option) before he could drive it again. The new regulations are that the front windscreen must let in at least 75% of light and the side windows 70%. I don't know of this affects Galaxys? Richie Rich
  12. Thanks for the advice. The price was just for the parts. I have considered German, Swedish and French, but wasn't sure if the Sharan parts were the same as the Ford. I guess they are.
  13. I want to replace the front discs (and pads) on my TDi, but my delaer quoted
