  1. I have just purchased a V6 GHIA X AUTO with climate control fitted. I returned to the car after a 20 mile drive and found a puddle under car,i had not had climate control on during this drive. on starting the car i found that the air con pump clutch was engaged and both fans were running.Climate control was off, even when switching on and in auto the air con switch came on but turning switch off did not switch air con off.The only way of stopping air con is to remove fuse or relay. the fans still run when air con fuse removed. Is this correct for air con to be on permanetly or do i have a fault.
  2. i have the same problem on a 96 ghia model. several segments disappear when the weather is hot, eg the sun is out. I have been informed that the display consists of two pieces of glass sandwiched together with liquid in the segment and electrical contacts at various positions. The sun heats the glass which expands. This in in turn cuses the liquid not to make proper contact with the eletrical contacts. If you gently run your finger over the glass. NOT TO HARD you will notice the display appear, but will fade away. You could try covering up the display, put a cloth or foil sun blind over dash, although if its not working properly now it never will. it might work once the weather cools down. A new module for my mondeo is in excess of
  3. Many thanks for the reply. Ive had the car looked at and the water pump is ok. My local mechanic had a look at the car he had it for 2 days. they removed all the covers and checked the pulleys and tensioner and all was ok. They did not retention or anything as they would have had to replace belt. They came to the conclusion that when it is cold the belt slaps on cover. When engine warms up it goes away. I contacted fords parts dept. I found out on 86 models and higher an extended cambelt cover was fitted. Fords would not admit a problem but would sell me a cover for 62.50 plus vat. I live in surrey and my local ford dealer wanted to charge me
  4. thanks for the reply. Your info sounds correct. I was given some duff info , i was told the pump was external . I have subsequently found out that it is on the timing belt. The car is due in early next week. Do you know if it is expensive. a new pump the belt is 15k old will they want to replace it. I have heard that a new tensioner is worth fitting. I know its gonna cost but i might as well have it all done.
  5. I have noticed in the last few months whenever the temperature has been cold, below 5 deg c. The timing belt can be heard slapping on the timing belt cover on top near the cylinder head. Once the ambient temperature rises or the head warms up throughengine running this dissappears. The timing belt was replaced 15k ago. Does anybody know if this is a coomon fault. Thecar is going into the garage asap, but everbody wants to change the belt. I am concerned if it is the tensioner or just tolerences when the engine is cold any advice would be appreciated.
