Found 4 wires that had broken or had the plastic cover split. Repaired them, but wondered if it is possile to buy a new wiring loom, and any suggests on where, cost and the best place to but it? Appologises if this sounds like a silly question, just wondered if it would have been easier to replace or repair

Appologises now, if this is a silly question, but I have developed a fault that whenever I attempt to use the read wiper, the blue 15amp fuse blows. All works ok on the front, but again when ever I use the rear wiper the fuse blows again. I am planning on having a proper look this weekend, but was looking for some pointers, on where to start first. My first instinct is to check the cables where they come from the car in the the book lid, but don't know how easy that is and if there is any advise on what order I should check things. I have a habit of starting the biggest job first and then finding out the issue was just a 5 minute job some where else. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that, Can you confirm if the gearbox oil is red and looks fairly clear. I was kind of hoping the gearbox oil would be the same as normal oil and be a yellow brown colour? Sorry if it is a silly question!

Hi there, I have just found a leak from the front of the Galaxy (2001 2.3 (auto) Zetec) and can not work out where it is coming from, I will look again tomorrow in the light. But wondered if you would know what colour the gearbox oil is and is it thick like normal engine oil. The leak seems to be clear-red in colour and only feels a little bit oily. Recently had gear box replaced so wondered if this could be the problem, the only other option is the red coolant, but I don't seem to be loosing anything. Thanks in advance?

Hi Ian, Sounds similar to my problem, although I have been losing the power and the rev counter goes to 0. Was this the same as yours? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Joey, I will have a look tomorrow. Did you have the same problem with the rev counter or just the loss of power? I have seen a few threads referring to the gearbox, but none reported the same issue with the rev counter going to 0 for 30-40 seconds? Thanks again.

Help, I have only had my Galaxy for 6 months and am now experiencing problems with loss of power intermittently. Whilst drivig long, the rev counter goes to 0 and the car just carries on and then after a minute of so with rev at 0, the rev counter will go up as normal and it will carry on driving as normal. I have also experienced a few problems recently with stalling when breaking and taking off from a still position (roundabouts and lights). I read on this forum that it soundly like the gearbox, spent a small fortune getting this serviced and reconditioned, but the problem is still occuring. Please help, becoming desperate, before spending any more money would like to know if anybody has suffered the same problem or offer advise! Thanks in advance. Martin.

My ford garage quoted me

Just had the same problem. Whilst doing 70 on the A1M the speedo went down to 0, but the car carried on going and I was able to pull into the inside lane until the speedo came back after a couple of minutes. Car was then stuck in 3rd gear until I got home and restarted the car, all now working. Is this a common issue, or does mine sound different to the rest.

Quick question from a newcomer. Recently purchased a 2001 Galaxy 2.3 Zetec and wondered where the best place to get the tow bar and electrics from? I have also heard that with some tow bars, you may be asked to cut part of the bumper away? Any suggestions or recommendations greatly appreciated? Thanks in advance!
