  1. Thanks for that I have got new links fitted bought from Ford but I had to source some replacement nuts from work and I am now wondering if they are not the correct type, I will get some this weekend and try that.
  2. This subject has been covered in depth I know but has anyone come to a conclusion as to what the fault is, for the record I have replaced the shock absorbers and the complete top bush assembly, the car has passed a MOT with no problems but the noise is still there, around Stockport we still use cart tracks to run on except for the pristine condition of the traffic calming measures so the car feels like the front end is about to fall out, anymore ideas for a cure will be gratefully recieved.
  3. I changed my front discs last year got the parts from Halfords stripped everything down and both the discs and pads were wrong, I had to rebuild with the old parts (I was at work at the time), took the parts back to the spotty 17 year at Halfords to be told I didnt know what I was doing it said that they were the right parts on the computer, eventually got my money back. Luckily I had drawn around the pads and discs took them to the local trade factors who knew what parts I needed from the drawings, but he admitted with Fords it is sometimes better to take the old parts in to compare
  4. Thanks for that, it did pass today so will look at replacing the ball joints next month (skint after the outlay this month) Mike
  5. George is correct with the 190Nm also it is good practice to add locktight to the threads before they are fitted. Mike
  6. No play in them it is going for mot today so I will know from them as regards to the condition, but I have checked them over there dosn't seem to be any play in them. Just a tip for anybody else who has to remove the struts after trying for 2 hours to remove the top nut I phoned the dealers and a new plate cost
  7. Just replaced the same on my Galaxy new top mounts, shocks, and links but there is still a clanging noise when going over bumps any body got anymore ideas (all changed for mot but annoyed it hasn't cured the fault). There was alot of play in the o/s top bush, that.s why I went down this path Mike
  8. Sorry to hijack the post but for some reason I cant start a new topic, but I need to do the rear pads on my 1.9 2003 galaxy the pads that are on have a sensor (I have checked there is a wire going to the pad) but H**fords say that they dont have a sensor fitted to the pad it is a seperate push in wire. Are they correct I have this problem with there parts supply before ie stripping car down and finding they have supplied the wrong part. Thanks for any replies Mike
