  1. Thanks ronz. Where else would google find "Galaxy", "Engine workshop" and "glow plug" on the same page? I did exactly the same on Sunday - put a Halfords type 482 bulb in the brake light instead of a type 480. Simple mistake - same size, same fitting, and both are quoted the the Halfords bulb guide. On Monday (in the rain) my wife had to call out the RAC due to the warnings and flashing lights. As some of them were red, the RAC said it wasn't safe to drive. Thanks to your post, when the RAC man arrived she was able to point him straight to the problem. A new (correct) bulb and the problem went away. Except the battery had gone flat by then, but it is 7 years old - time for a new one me thinks. Thanks again. Bayleaf
  2. Thanks Mumof4. From the graunchy sounds it makes, I think the window has come out of the clamps. A colleague at work has now provided the tool to prise the plastic catches off (like a screwdriver with a big V in the end). I wanted to know where they were located. I guess I'll have to post a bit more then. Be seing you. Bayleaf.
  3. Morning all, Just joined up to find out how to take my door apart really. The window's become detached from the up/down mechanism. Still more of that later ... I (or rather my wife) have a 2001 Mk 2 Ghia. (Gosh it's getting on a bit now). Good car with not too many problems and only one breakdown (splines on the drive to the whell sheered off!). Pet hate - placing bottles of iced water in the cup holders led to dripping condensation on the Climate Control module so now only half of the digital display bits actually work. Oddly enough this happened about a couple of weeks after reading an article about it in the paper. Been doing for years, so I thought 'It won't happen to me!'. Damn. Back to work now. Cheers Bayleaf.
