  1. Am looking at this one. Having never used vagcom before, some advice would be good. Cheers.
  2. Have you tried opening the driver's door first? My 02 Alhambra has a security device which prevents the tailgate opening until the driver's door has been opened. Also, mine won't open if the battery is disconnected because the lock is electronic.
  3. I have Avon ZV3s on mine - my local National Tyres & Exhausts did a price match with a site on the internet, although I can't for the life of me remember what I paid. I do remember being pleased with the price though. They seem to be wearing well so far.
  4. Thanks so far - anyone in the north west area with vag com?????
  5. I have successfully replaced the glow plug and had the aux heater working fine. However, after a year or so it went again, so I replaced the plug again but this time it didn't work :25: So, I have two questions. 1. I remember reading that the diagnostic computer would need to be reset to get the heater working again (although it didn't the first time I replaced the plug.) Is this always the case? I read that disconnecting the battery for 30 mins can do this. 2. What's the best way of testing the plug? I know someone out there will have the answers - they always do :D Cheers
  6. Add me to the (long) list of those with just a blown fuse :25: wrongly indicated on the fuse card. Drove 350 miles back from scottish highlands yesterday (thankfully no rain). Had to stop half a dozen times to clean the screen though. Had checked the fuse (no 24) but it was ok. Spent this morning contemplating taking to a garage to be fixed but came across this post. Thanks once again :D
  7. I had this problem last year and sucessfully replaced the glow plug. When I started the car the blower started straight away and everything has been fine - until a few weeks ago when I got the tell tale white smoke again ^_^ I replaced the plug yesterday but the heater is not working (no heat, no blower :o ). I have read that VAGCOM codes need to be reset (whatever that means!) for it to work again. I didn't do that last time, it just worked straight away. Any ideas anyone?? I have looked for the fuse (anyone know which number it is as the little diagrams aren't all that clear) and tomorrow I am going to take it apart again just to make sure that the multi-pin plug is definitely connected properly). Any help gratefully received.
  8. Will a G clamp do instead of a rewind tool? I used one for the front when I did them.........
  9. Ok guys, need to replace my rear pads. Have done my front discs & pads six months ago with your help and was just wondering if I can expect any problems? Have noticed that the spring clip in the top of my nearside caliper has disappeared resulting in some play. I get a metallic 'clunk' when I brake (no doubt a result of the aforementioned play. Anyone else had one of these disappear?
  10. Graham - please see LOTS of other posts on this forum reference the aux heater. Most can be fixed at home with a new glow plug (easily bought off ebay for
  11. Did the oil change on Saturday morning. It wasn't til I'd drained the oil that I tried to remove the cap off the filter - it wouldn't budge and could I find my filter remover? No! So I filled up with new oil and replaced the engine shield (b***er of a job I thought, but never mind). My mate's gonna lend me a filter remover so I'll have a go on Tuesday morning. One question - can I remove it now it's full of oil again without losing any oil? It looks like it's level with the top of the engine so I would imagine that if the engine is off the gravity would do it's work and empty the filter. Am I right? Cheers guys. ps the air filter I bought from Halfords was too big so it's gotta go back <_< Don't know whether I picked up the wrong one or theirs is the wrong size?
  12. Did mine last week (check the Aux / Booster Heater thread) Thread is here. Bought mine off eBay for
  13. Weather here is absolutely pants today  so not going to bother. Will see what tomorrow brings.
  14. Just bought mine from Halfords for
  15. Well spotted that man! Think I'll plump for Halfords own then - cheers for the heads up. Thanks for offering to check it out adrianf. As it happens I've got a Motor World just five minutes from me which is why it seemed appealing. Only 15 minutes to nearest Halfords, so not too bad.
