When I had the overheating problem I searched the web for a definative answer but there didn't seem to be one single cause so I thought I'd list my problem and what cured it in case the same symptoms are showing for you: First thing I noticed was the heating stopped being heating! Blowing cold air when there is snow outside was not good especially on a day trip with the family to Brugge. Then it got warm again. Bizarre thought I. Next, after about 50 or so miles it went to cold air again and the temp gauge started to creep over the half way mark where it usually sat. I found that slowing to 60 ish brought it back down again. We made it to Brugge without it going too high. It also made the journey back to the EuroTunnel without too much drama; just cold inside. It was on the drive home from the tunnel that the temp started to climb and would not drop. On this occasion it tripped the overheat buzzer and the red light came on. I stopped and waited then when I got bored enough I released the cap and stood back. Waited a long time (two papers and two coffees) then topped up with warm water from the petrol stations toilet. So to cut a long story short my tech checked the thermostat, flush out the system then said "let's stick a water pump on" so he did, and a cambelt kit while it was off. And low and behold the plastic impellor(?) had fallen off leading to no water circulation. On the pattern part thing there seemed to be 5 options which had varying impellor sizes; some plastic - others metal. So we ordered all 5 and measured the original to get the right one. All back together with no lasting problems. Then the Wife borrowed it and stuck petrolm in and drove it till it stopped! Some cars are just on a suicide mission... (by the way, we drained the fuel out,

Alloy Wheels Hitting Front Caliper

That could be the clue I needed. Thanks. Not all MK11s are the same. Looks like they are going back on ebay -
Alloy Wheels Hitting Front Caliper
installer69 replied to installer69's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for both responses. Richard - the old steels were 16 and the alloys are 16. Gregers - no most def not; it actually took alloy wheel material off as I tried to move forward. It hits the inside of the spokes. As I said, the strange thing is it must be a N/S/F hub caliper issue as swapping the wheels led to the same side having the problem. I've had a look on TIS and there doesn't appear to be any spacer or plates on the caliper assembly. Couple that with the -
I bought a set of used alloys off a year older but still MK11 galaxy. Mine is a 51 plate TDi. I put them on and the passengers front one hits the caliper. My first thought was perhaps a buckled wheel so I swopped over the two front wheels and it was the same therefore pointing to a problem on the passenger front hub/caliper whatever?? There isn't loads of clearance on the other side but this is strange. Any ideas?

Judder Vibration Under Acceleration
installer69 replied to installer69's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I used to work for euro car parts and I think you're correct. I'll have to see if I can get some ex employee discount. If not I suppose I'll have to get one of my old customers to order it for me (and fit it...) Can I ask though, would the symptoms of DMF failure be speed or revs dependent? Mine is defo speed relative. -

Judder Vibration Under Acceleration
installer69 replied to installer69's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for those bits of info. You could just imagine a service advisor at a Ford dealership saying 'that'll be .3 of an hour labour to pack out your dash with cardboard sir' I love my galaxy... The tyre part is an interesting angle. They are not completely gone but they were budgets and I believe I am correct in thinking that galaxy tyres are reinforced a bit like a van tyre - I'm sure these are not. Tracking? is that where the wife bumps it up curbs 'cos she doesn't DO reverse parking? Air con is manual - not climate. Fully gassed and posted in a separate post. Another member gave me a line of attack which I'll go and try once I've delivered the kids to their various activities. Thanks for your help -
I joined another thread on this but thought mine might be different so here goes. Judder from most speeds but only when accelerating. Almost feels like a buckled wheel but if I accelerate to 50 mph and just ride the throttle to maintain speed or coast all is fine. As soon as I give it throttle the judder/vibration/thrumming/oscillation through whole car - how best to describe it? is felt. I suppose it could be described as a mild pull from left to right etc. The car has had the drivers side 1/2 shaft and drive shaft replaced (genuine ford items) which I think felt better but my wife used to be the main driver and she wouldn't notice if one of the wheels dropped off and overtook her! Also my front brakes squeak like hell - all the time, not just when braking. They are ate ones, not the cheapest. Then there's the pad warning light, aux heater not working, air con not working, radio distorting like buggery, squeaky dash... I will rename it the Galaxy Citron forthwith.

Another Air Con Problem
installer69 replied to installer69's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No, the fans don't speed up nor does the compressor cut in without my extra assistance. Would the relay going faulty stop the compressor firing up? I suppose it would otherwise the car would overheat. I can't say I noticed the relays. I'll have a look in the morning. Thanks for your input. -
So here we are again. I know the problem has been flogged to death but I'm after a bit of guidance. The car has manual air con. The buttons light up. If a positive is taken to the fan and compressor via a switch all works as it should. In fact - all the way to Portugal and back, so I know that the problem isn't a major compnent failure or a leak. The gas system has been flushed, vacced and filled to perfection (I used to sell the machines) so I was wondering whether any of you knowledgable types out there could point a finger at the control relay or a break in the wiring and perhaps suggest a fault finding process or have a wiring diagram? I have vagcom and no faults are present. Many thanks, Craig

Wobble Whilst Accelerating
installer69 replied to Coxsey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I too have this problem on a 51 plate tdi. I have already replaced the drivers side drive shaft and 1/2 shaft bit with genuine ford items. I've been trying to see if the symptoms are worse when warm/cold etc but no real pattern. All I can say is that it IS worse sometimes and not so bad at others. Damn car. Any steps I should go through next? I have access to a ramp and a willing technician - not ford/vw or seat trained though. -
Rob, did it work? I have exactly the same problem. Craig

Do these sensors not relate to a galaxy with a tdi vw engine then? -
Where is the air con relay situated?

If anyone knows I too would love to know where the pressure switch is located
