  1. I had non-starting with a 2.8 and diode flashing fast. I read that if you turn the ignition on and not the starter and let it flash for 60 seconds it will then flash a fault code. When I tried it, it did not flash a code, it just went out so I tried the starter and it started! This happened a few times at long intervals and I just accepted that if it happened, one minute is not long to wait.
  2. Two thoughts on this. I have come across aftermarket upgrades to alarm systems which cause a car to relock itself if it has been unlocked but then no door is opened. Is your Galaxy old enough (3 years or more, somebody please correct me if the figure is not right) to have the electronic module, controlling the alarm and locking ,housed under the front passenger seat? (In a cavity covered by a hatch between the seat runners) If so the module may have got wet due either to leaks, or due to valeters wetting everything. If this is the case there is plenty of comment on this in old threads on this forum. Good luck with sorting it out, whatever the cause.
  3. I keep a close eye on my mpg and I cannot see any improvement on 98 octane. I've tried quite a few times in France where the price difference is very small but still can't see any benefit.
  4. If the lock is stiff, rather than jamming, you may be able to lubricate it by dribbling oil over the shiny keyhole surround so that it seeps round the outside edges of the barrel. This has worked for me twice, though I needed to repeat it daily for a few days before it got to the heart of the matter. I used engine oil so it was viscous enough to stay on the job once it got there.
  5. Is your problem that the module got wet? I managed to rescue mine by much spraying with WD40 and some gentle cleaning of the circuit board with an old toothbrush. Worth a try!
  6. I don't think it should come on at all with the oil anywhere between max and min on the dipstick. To avoid risk of engine damage I suggest you get advice from someone who knows. It might just be a sensor problem but it might be more dangerous. Good luck with it.
  7. Regarding floor vents, my late 95 Sharan Carat with dual aircon has some vents just behind the handbrake lever, in the rear facing "wall"" of the slightly raised plinth that the handbrake is mounted on.
  8. Morrisons supermarket fuel is clearly signed as being Texaco, isn't it?
  9. I seem to remember reading somewhere that water can get in around the pollen filter if it isn't seated properly in its housing. Might be worth checking. Good luck with it.
  10. Two of my friends who have 2 litres, both talk about 26-28 mpg. This would only give about 380 miles if you ran down to empty, or 300 miles if you refill when down to the quarter mark.
  11. I seem to remember reading somewhere, that retrofitting original rails is not a viable proposition
  12. I am pretty sure that what Richard says is exactly right. I have a sticker inside my fuel filler flap, showing pressures for different sizes and it says the same too.
  13. On my late 95 VW Sharan V6 the light definitely works. It is orange and comes on when the needle gets down to the upper red mark, in fact it was on about 3 hours ago! It also lights for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on, as a check, the temperature light also does this.
  14. Parts may be different prices according to whether you get them from Ford or VW. My 2.8 petrol Sharan had new spark plugs at a VW dealer 4 years ago, the plugs were charged at almost
  15. If Alhambra is the same as my Sharan, the original equipment size is either; 6 inch steel wheels with 195/60x15 reinforced load rating 95, or 7 inch alloy wheels with 215/60x15 which have a load rating of 95 without being special reinforced ones. I don't know of 225 being fitted as original equipment and I wonder whether they might run too close to the suspension on the inside wall at the front .
