Brake Pedal Problem
Chard1966 replied to Chard1966's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The problem is not to do with the brakes heating up , it happens when you keep your foot on the brakes ie slowing down on hills, slowing down slowly braking from any speed where you have to keep constant pressure on the pedal and it drops to the floor . They work fine for on off braking -
The problem is on a 1996 Sharan TDI When using the brakes for long periods ie; not on off braking, the pedal travels almost to the floor (very scary) If you lift off the brakes and re-apply them they are then back to normal as sharp as a Knife There are no leaks or loss of Brake fluid . I have had a lot of experience with Galaxy's Alhambra Sharan's we have 5 in our family. I know the mk1 pedal goes down half way when applying pressure when on tick over spoke at length with a ford technician he assured me this was correct. Does any one Know if there is a pressure release valve for the brake Pedal? Servo or has any one had this problem and had the fault diagnosed or fixed

I have just found a damp patch at the bottom of my radiator(this would exsplain the coolant loss) The local ford garage said 2.5 hrs to change the radiator plus 0.9hrs to regas they say the front bumper, panel, fibreglass panel and various other bits have to come off. Has any one got any exsperiance of Radiator change with aicon? Can you take the radiator out leaving the aircon radiator in situe? How long would it take

Vag Com Cruise Enable
Chard1966 replied to Chard1966's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have taken the Galaxy to two Ford dealers now no luck with the CC . I have spoken to 2 x VW dealers both have the same story , To put the car on there system you have to enter the vin no, or there system reads the vin no of the ECU. This is to make sure VW cars are serviced at VW, Audi at Audi and so on, VW say this meens they can not order parts or read fault codes other than VW Is this true ? My location is Shepshed Loughborough -

I had a problem with a 1996 1.9 90ps lack of power ,changed the MAF,it did not fix, took the car to a diesel specialist no faults were stored in the ecu. I noticed the accelerater pedal seemed low.It was fixed by lifting the pedal and retightening the bolt, it had worked loose over the years simple fix cost nothing

Now I own a 04 Galaxy TDI Zetec I am a bit of a muppit ? , I have noticed that most Galaxy's new or old have suffered the dredded tyre fitters mark (jacking directly on the cil lips distroying them. My sisters Galaxy was damaged, Wile being repaired she was given a 56 plate Sharan, I checked this out and found it to have some very nice Cil Covers. Talking to my local Ford dealer these covers are not available, I took the reg no of the Sharan to VW and have now got the part no's these were ordered. Well the first cil was fitted, to my supprise all the holes were already there about 30 mins, the second cil took 10 mins. This is probebly the best mod you can do to your Galaxy.THEY LOOK THE DOGS

After reeding the cruise topics and also the Trip Computer topics. I have done a fair bit of messing around with my 04 Galaxy Zetec TDI. First I brought the C C stalk and the trip stalk , after talking to Ford (they said my Galaxy was fitted with a midline cluster). When fitting the CC and trip stalk found there was no wiring for the C C or trip stalk and the cluster was only a Baseline. I have now brought a new Midline cluster from Ford
