  1. Yep me to???? Not posted for a while but brickey sent a message saying my comp was infected??
  2. Ahh, i'll try that tonight. Thanks for your help!
  3. Hi all, Back again with another question. I have an Auto Gal and an Auto Delica, on the Deli I can select all gears 1,2,D,N,P,R but on the Gal I can't seem to be able to select gears 1 and 2, only D upwards? I think it's always been like this but not been bothered until a couple of weeks ago I got stuck in mud (used to it in the Deli being 4wd) and she just wouldn't grip, so was looking for lower gear but couldn't. Any ideas? Also the cruise has never worked, but i've done a search and will try to fix that. Cheers
  4. Some things annoy me in our Gal, I NEED to replace these parts if anyone can help (yr 2000 mk 1 - one of the last mk1's I believe) Front blower vents - never point where you want them to, after some new ones. Drivers side door seal with the grey / beige sort of velour on the inner, ours came with an all black one on that door??? I found one on ebay which was too stretched so had to trim it to fit, looks something like Blue Peter would come up with! (sticky back plastic anyone??) Rear seatbelts, beige colour(or supposed to be), ours look like they have been chewed by a dog - after it has eated a bucket of chocolate! Well worn, look crap! Very rear drivers side there is a nice storage cuboard (where I keep my porno mags - no thats a lie, I can't the wife carries kids in it, the mags are under my bed - don't tell the wife) with a flip up lid thing - ours is broke - lid won't stay on, need the clips to hold lid in place. Many thanks if anyone can help...................
  5. Once again cheers, it's in the garage now as I type, hopefully the part is readilly available otherwise it's either car hire or dust down my Delica!
  6. Cheers guys, next daft question is how do I identify the switch, where is it and what does it look like?
  7. First of all apologies I aint posted for a while, new job takes up most of my time. I have a problem now though and need some help as we are due to take the kids away Friday for a well earned break. Wife has limped home in the gal tonight (1.9 TD Auto mk1 yr 2000) engine management light on (flashing) brake lights not working, and also you have to switch it off to move the gear selector, keep foot on brake - back into park to start up then move selector to D, she wont go into gear with engine running. I've done a search and found something about a switch? but would this also cause the selector problem? Any advise would be great, gonna have to hire a motor now to get us up the lakes which eats into the spends! Cheers all
  8. I'll try and run a die down them. There was literally no other way but to give them a good smacking  Thanks for the advice :angry2:
  9. Well that was a mare! Started at 8am Sat Morning, stripped old ones out - had to remove quite a bit of stuff to get to them - went to fit the set i'd bought - and they were wrong! They had 4 bolts, mine have 3  So I decided to put the old ones back on and try to free them by operationg them and squirting some lube down the shaft - still no good, off they came again. They were properly siezed, took about 1/2 hour of smacking with a hammer, and despite putting a nut on the thread I still managed to damage them :o So I had another plan, use the spindles from the set I bought, but they were longer than mine  So eventually after a lot of fiddling, I managed to get the nuts back on - just!, but I still need new spindles as the nuts are only just hanging on (any ideas if they are available seperate????) All in all it took me 6 hours - wife and kids not too impressed coz i'd promised them a day at Blackpool - which turned out to be a quick walk through the lights! Morale of the story - check which wiper linkage you have, and don't plan to have a day out the same day as you fit them!
  10. Mine have started with this creeping, in fact since yesterday they haven't moved at all  I have managed to find a second hand unit (
  11. There is another side to this. We go out on a Sunday on our bikes, I tow the 2 youngest in a trailer (hard work!) anyway we use a local cycle route and some of it is on a main road with a so called cycle lane. You will be surprised the number of numpties who park their vehicles in this lane despite it being double yellow lines, this forces us out into the middle of the road and into the path of fast traffic - just needs a bit of common sense I think. I do however also get annoyed when in the car trying to overtake the local cycling club who are out in force and riding 4 or 5 deep taking up all the road, this too is not very courteous. Just my opinion
  12. Mine is all sorted now, at last I have icy cold air! The centre blower motor was caput as someone had put a pen down the vent :P The air con wasn't staying cold because aparantly the fan wasn't cooling the rad enough - all sorted now just in time for winter :D
  13. There is a button on the climate control, nothing on it - just a black button. Press that and it should change back (apologies I can't be more precise, cars at home and i'm in work!) :(
  14. I've fitted one of these http://www.bluespot.co.uk/install/show_model.asp?id=87 (PC5-91), and the reception has improved greatly - can pick up MW stations now  Now i've wired it into a permanent live feed, but since had second thoughts - will it drain the battery? or should I wire it to an ignition 12v supply? If anyone has fitted one that can give me pointers i'd be greatful. Thanks
  15. Mights also be worth you looking here: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=2227 I found it very useful with my aircon problem - which still exists
  16. Took it in Sat morning and aircon guy put it on diagnostic machine, turns out the centre vent motor is caput, and there is an electrical fault on the air con system. What HAS happened though is strange, it does actually work for about 5 mins - icy cold, then warms up, but i've found if I turn it off for 5 mins, then back on it works again for about another 5 mins??? and keeps doing this throughout the journey? Weird  Got an auto electrician looking over it sometime this week, looks like the dash has to come out to sort the centre vent problem.
  17. Because there were times when we had more kids than adults in the car, there are only 6 seats with proper 3 point seat belts, 1 of which is the drivers seat. We do, at times carry 6 children, so it was either lap belt on a booster, which I don't like - they can cause more damage, or have the front air bag switched off (which I was told was the safest method). So other than put one in the roofbox, we were stumped. We now however don't carry as many, so no longer a problem.
  18. Goes without saying. Kids in the rear in future
  19. Replying to my own post here  If say the garage has just removed the fuse in the passenger airbag, would that not then show as a fault on the dash? The airbag warning has been showing, each time we take it back and they use a "key" to re-set it, and tell us it's because when we move drivers seat we are catching the plug for the airbag. Could this be a load of tripe and the light is showing because they have taken out the fuse? - Is there a seperate fuse? mmmmm, got me wondering now??
  20. Interesting. I'll get it checked out, and in the meantime won't risk it. Thanks for the info
  21. I have that exact set, quality aint that bad, keep the carpets clean anyway! They don't have the locating holes for the lugs though, but they are rubber backed so don't slip around the place. Well worth the money imho, especially to keep my beige carpets nice and clean with 3 kids!
  22. Already posted in the Tech section so I thought i'd better say hi to all the fellow Galaxy owners! We have a 2000 1.9tdi Ghia x, had for about a month and had no end of trouble. We were tempted into buying it as our previous MPV (Nissan Largo) was a proper gas guzzler (about 15mpg)! Must say despite the problems, some still ongoing - the drive is superb, plus getting 40+ per gallon helps! The wife uses it for her business (Day Nursery) so she drives it more than me. Just want the problems solving now so we can enjoy her more!
  23. Gave us 30 days warranty, already been back for re-gas (totally empty of gas and oil) - problem still not solved, air bag switched off, air bag light re-set, window switches not working, 2 x broken rear suspension springs, new exhaust, 2 x front tyres (aparantly had only just passed mot with the last 3 problems not being picked up??) So I think they are losing patience, and lots of money! I'll fight it though!
