  1. Greetings to all, i am a newbie, I had an unfortunante incident with my new mondeo the other day (2.0l TDCI). Have a Ford Mondeo Diesel TDCI - brand new - couple of months old Drove it through a deep puddle. Car stalled after exiting the ford. Although the engine was firing, it was not starting. After 10 minutes or so, the engine did start, but cut out shortely after. Finally got the engine to start, and it held. White steam was coming out of the exhaust. AA engineer came and checked the car, he checked the engine, and found that the intercooler had taken water in it, so he detached it from the enine, and reved the engine for a short while, ensuring the brunt of water from puddle was reved out of the engine system. He drove the car, and concluded that there hadn't been a loss of power and that it ws drivable. On the motorway, i noticed that the car did not have the same 'roar' as before, and the engine was notable louder - rattling from the engine during the first three gears. Later that night i noticed some black smoke coming out of the exhaust, but was advised that this was the engine clearing out any remaining water in the system. I took the car into my local garage, they could not find any fault with the engine but replace the air filter and fuel filter as they were damp. The thing is the car hasn't been the same since, it has lost its roar (of the turbo) when accelerating, especially when gearing down. The engine seesm to be rattling, and you can feel the car throg almost when the engie is on and stationary - during the first and second gears it does throb. It sounds like a used diesel now, whereas before it was very quiet. Has anybody had a simialr incident before, or could anybody shed any light on what may have happend? What could be wrong with the car (its roar has gone, and the throb?) Sad regards
