  1. It turns out that the climate control was NOT working. The Ford dealer had had the vehicle 3 times and deemed it ok but I still felt it wasnt right, I took it to a local a/c specialist and he confirmed it wasnt, he said that there was moisture in the system and it would at least require a new accumulator dryer and a orrofice tube. I took it back to the dealer with this info and they replaced the items, after which they phoned me and said 'my independant engineers assesment was incorrect, as it also needs a new compressor'. I bit my tongue and awaited further updates. They phoned again a few days later and said they also replaced a high pressure pick up tube and climate control module. I have now got the car back and it is certainly blowing out cold air. The new control module allows me to set the temperature between 16 and 29 degrees, the old module was 19 to 29 degrees. Whilst everything appears to be ok I have noticed that the light on the ac button is permanently illuminated, if I press it, it goes off but so does the 'auto' indicator in the display. Does anybody else out there have a modern Mondeo Ghia? and can you confirm if this is normal operation or not. Many thanks for any help or advise anyone can give. n.b The dealer declined to re-imburse me for independant engineers assesment.
  2. I have noticed that my Ghia 2001 also does this if the climate control is turned on - even if the temperature is set to the normal 22 degrees and the outside air temperature is cool. Is this normal ?
  3. I recently purchased a 2001 Y reg Mondeo Ghia with Climate control A/C. I am not sure if the A/C is working correctly. I have taken it in twice to the local Ford dealer who have said on both occasions that the software was corrupt and needed resetting, on the last occasion they also recharged the gas as it was a little low. When I set the temperature to 'low' I would assume that the A/C would be forced onto permanent cooling, however the temperature of the air that comes out varies from warm to a little below outside air temperature. On one or two occasions the air has come at very cold indeed but it didnt stay cold for long. Do the electronics allow the air to be cooled only by a certain amount? ;) Not haveing had a car with climate control before I am not entirely sure what to expect from it and I dont want to start stamping my feet in their showroom unless there is a real issue ;) . Anybody out there have any advice or experience with this. Any comments very much appreciated.
  4. Brilliant - thanks guy's!!! I managed to fix the cruise control on my MD's Galaxy - he is well happy. I found the hose on the vacuam pump had split completely and had come adrift. There was not enough slack to just cut it back though. Ten inches of 5.5mm flexible fuel line hose and a couple of jubilee clips did the trick :D I also wouldnt reccomend a Ford main dealer in Northampton - hopeless bunch :(
  5. Cheers for that - found a 2003 disc on Ebay for
  6. Just purchased this car but the radio/cd is stone dead. I have checked the main fuse panel and all seems ok, I have checked the volts at the power connecter on the rear of the unit and there is a switched 12v feed and lighting feed but no main power - any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
