Guest puddled Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I need to replace the remote key on my 2001 Galaxy, and would actually prefer the VW flip type key as opposed to the standard ford thing. Does anyone know if it will work or not ? As far as I can tell the key blades are the same, just not sure about the remote or immobiliser transponder. Any help greatfully recieved. Quote
Guest andypenn Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 HiI have also thought about this but upto know have not found an answer, I will be watching this thread. Cheers Andy Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 given that the galaxy is 99% vw anyway I would imagine it would,if you go to the right people/garage Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 I wanted a spare key and fancied a flip one, but as my car is an Alhambra, my local VW parts department refused to order one for me. Quote
Guest puddled Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 been doing a bit of digging, apparantley, the vw golf, bora, passat etc use a different type key to sharan, so if you can find a sharan key, it should work without any problems. The immobiliser's and remote locking appear to be the same units on all three versions of the car, ie ford, seat and VW. I have just ordered a vw flip key to try, and will let you know the outcome. Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 It's an easy enough job to swap over the key blade, knock out the roll pin, drill the new key blade to suit, pop it in place and replace the roll pin ;) job done, the question is, is the remote function and immobiliser the same as on both cars? I know people who have done this conversion on mk3 Golfs and it doesnt work! Quote
