TimsBamma Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Hopefully attached are some pics of my Alhambra SE tdi on -40mm KW shocks/springs. I suspect the the std SE suspension sits lower than other Seat S models and the Galaxy etc as it hasn't dropped by 40mm however handles a whole lot better. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 looks good ;) anti roll bars next 19 and 23mm ;) I need to replace my set up! I can get replacement inserts for the front struts 2/3 weeks from Germany or just go with the Weitec coil over set up and hopefully get them a lot quicker? I looked at the KW's, nice stuff but dear if you want to go lower tham 40mm Quote
TimsBamma Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 Yep been checking out the antirollbars on SeatCupranet and you're right 19mm front and 23mm rear deffo (thanks Fredt). Strangely enough the KW's were cheaper than the WEITEC's (for non coilovers) I and KW uk were well surprised.. ;) I'd like to get new RIM's n tyres just gotta start saving as I've just bought and am waiting for delivery of a new Alpine H/U and Speakers. Good ICE site www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk Have a good weekend all :18: Quote
TimsBamma Posted April 29, 2007 Author Report Posted April 29, 2007 Wolfie mean't to ask if you got any pics of your car and how low you've got the suspension on the FK's, also did swapping the antirollbars make an appreciable difference :o Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) too low! apparently thats one of the reasons while the strut insert has failed! the valve mech has died! the adjuster just spins and the seals have gone :( how low? running a set of OE 16'' rims and cant get a finger in the gap between the arch and the tyre B) handled fine till this failure! now the front end washes out if pushed hard! under steers like crazy and the front end patters, the Weitecs are on order :) hopefully they should be here by the week end? and hope fully I'll be able to fit them over the bank holiday! the rear ends ok! but I'll swap that out any how, so I'll have a spare set of adustable damped shocks and spring mounts sitting in the garage till I either sling them out or need them! as for the roll bars mine is a VR6 so it has the larger sizes fitted as standard! 18.5 mm front and 23mm rear :) Edited April 29, 2007 by wolfie Quote
TimsBamma Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 Mmmm, bet it looked good that low a good -20/-25mm lower than mine :2: Got an pix? Good luck with fitting the Weitec's, :D Quote
Guest wolfie Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 well the Weitec's are finally on :( the garage set them to a decent ride height! not as low as I would like but they said I can play with them later till I get the ride height I want  the Fk's are totalled! the adjustable platform on one side has collapsed and the lower spring has been forced over what remain of it! both inserts are leaking! both adjusters are seized/rusted solid! and that only after just over three years use! hopefully the Weitec's will last longer? I only had the fronts replaced as the rears are still ok! and they have adjustable spring platforms and adjustable shocks which the Weitec's dont so far only the Mrs has driven it and she seems impressed! which is a good sign :( Quote
Guest wolfie Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 well just went for a quick spin around the block, the ride is so much better! the front end no longer patters and allows the front end to wash out! the killer whoops that normally bring on sump to tarmac contact are taken with ease  the off camber bend with no run off can be taken at a decent speed now ;) just goes to show? the oil they stick in these things is there for a reason ^_^ and if the springs actually stay where they are meant to and not adjust themselves! coil overs are ok! a set of protection covers are on order now just need to sort out the ride height and all will be ok ;) lower it you said? to bloody right :( Quote
TimsBamma Posted May 18, 2007 Author Report Posted May 18, 2007 Hi Wolfie Sorry I missed your last post, blimey those FK's were well fubarred. Sounds like you's handles better than mine as well, hmm getting mine serviced and the tracking checked next week. I think the A/R bars need doing..... ^_^ Good luck, it'd be awesome to see pics if/when you get the oppurtunity. Quote
