mikej Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 I thought the window regulator was riveted in from what i remember so you'll need a drill and rivet gun at least , not the easiest of jobs from what i recall although never done the galaxy have done many a ford in the past .Then again i could be completely wrong and it may be different on the Gal and an absolute doddle. GLASs!!!just dont break a nail B) nail??..LMAO..at the moment my nails are black from the crap in the airbox and the engine when i was fiddling with the rocker cover to see if i could find where my oil leak is coming from..as my engine is coated in oil at the mo..nice little firehazard if it decides to go boom! ;) Quote

Fearing the worst I was about to phone the bank to remortgage for a new turbo, but it turned out the seal on the rocker cover had failed - this can't be repaired as the seal is integral with the rocker cover (so they informed me) and so I was Quote
mumof4 Posted April 27, 2007 Author Report Posted April 27, 2007 Blimey...dont tell me that!!..i still cant see where it is coming from ..though it has to be high up as it is all covered. Quote
whitty Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 if regulator is rivited on there is no reason why you can't drill the rivits out and when you refit the new one do it with short bolts and lock nuts will be a sight easier than rivits Quote
mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 ok...i have the wood out that was holding the window up..the clamps are off..i know i have to turn the glass...but no matter how i try..i cannot get it to turn enough to get it out....the Tis disc shows it turned...but how do i do it??..i dont want to force it as i dont want to break it..help please???..anyone know how to turn the glass?? mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 right..got a weee problem. Glass is out thanks to a lad at Fords, you need to take the weather proofing off all around the window. Then take the galss out.10 mins work and he didnt charge me a penny..as he said..always happy to help a lady who tries to do things herself..awww bless.. anyway..the problem. I have no rivets/bolts anything to attach the regulator to the door!...cant find a part number or size needed so it looks like im off out to find somewhere that can tell me what i need. The schematic is a bit obscure to say the least. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 M6x12 torxs bolts x5 if your doing it properly? Quote
mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 right..just went to a garage who gave me 5 bolts and some washers free.lol...no idea what size they are..but they fit...I know the rugulator works as i plugged it in to make the clamps go to the bottom which they will need to be when i put the window back in. Right...time to put it all together hopefully without breaking anything!. thanks for the info peeps. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 got a bit of a problem..cant get all the holes to line up.... Quote
mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 Okk.....i know why it wont fit..its too big..the sides are a good few inches longer than the old one.And the holes for fixing are in a diff place.Ah well.. anyway..my question is..since i know if i get a working regulator into the door it will work..and the rear right one i know wont work because of a broken wire..can i put the rear right into the rear left?.Hmm... or could i cannobilise one regulator to make one working one from the one i got?Hmm.. bugger. mikej Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Mumof4 please don't take this the wrong way but before you start chopping things up are you 100% sure its the wrong one and its not just the regulator in the wrong position ie as it goes up and down the length of the arms will change as these slide along the glass runner , the position of the hole centers will move unless riveted/bolted in place , I THINK please someone correct me if i am wrong .Its a pitty your not closer i would do it for you.mike....... mumof4 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 most def too big..the old ones, the two sides are around 18 inches long..and the new ones are around 23 inches long...those are the sides that bolt to the door frame.. the one i got from whitty, he got for his 52 plate from the dealer..as he never opened it..there is the possibility he may have been given the wrong one?who knows.. Mine is a 2001 X reg early MKII.. Quote
