I bought a 95 N plate Galaxy 2.8 automatic about 5 weeks ago through a private sale. this is the 1st Galaxy we've had and we're very pleased with it up to now. There are however a few faults -

The air bag warning light is on all the time. I've looked under the front passenger seat & the relay is making a noise about every 20 seconds. Could this be the fault ?????

The cruise control doesn't work, I've looked at some of the other postings on cruise control & noticed that some people have said that they can hear it switching on/off. I can't hear anything on our's

Also the rear nearside passenger window won't work with either the the passenger or drivers swtitch, but with both switches you can hear a clicking sound but it doesn't seem to be actually coming from the rear door.

Could anyone please help with any of the above problems

The Airbag is probably something called the slip ring - It can be replaced - costs around

Thanks for your help Bigjeeze.

I haven't had time to check the things that you've said yet apart from a quick look at the wiring to the door from the pillar. As you say I have seen that there is a thick BROWN wire split & also a thinner BROWN wire. This weekend I'll have a better look at the things you've mentioned.

Thanks once again & I'll let you know how I get on.

I don't think you'll find slip rings involved with airbags, what you're looking for is a clock spring type assembly where cables are wrapped around the steering column like a clock spring.

That was the name I was given - I stand corrected. In any case Yes it is the plastic ring that has the contacts on it that maintain the connection between the airbag in the steering column and the rest of the electrical gubbins.

According to Elsawin it is called the slip ring - it doesn;t mention anywhere the Clockspring.
