Help!

I've just replaced the battery on my 2000MY 1.9TDi (first sign of snow and it goes!)

Reset the windows, enetered the radio code, set the clock and then... noticed that the trip odometer and multi-function display are all reading in kilometres and litres.

Does anyone know the way of sorting this without having to book into my local (just voted the most expensive service department in the country for Ford) dealer?

Any advice would be appreciated

Masked Marauder you sir are an absolute star.

B****** dealer wanted to book the car in for an hour!

Should you ever be in Ealing (and not driving) a pint awaits!

Thanks again.

Nigel Brooks

Incidentally if anyone with a TDi needs a new battery Halfords are some

My odometer and all other displays have changed to km from miles. I have tried the solutions below and they do not work for me. Does anyone have another solution?

I have a 2000 model Mk1 Ford Galaxy Ghia 2.3 petrol

I should have said what caused my problem, so that others can avoid it! The service reminder came on again after a service. I remembered that it was reset by a combination of ignition switch and odometer reset, but not exactly the sequence. I tried holding in odometer reset and turning ignition on and offf several times. This did reset the service message, but also changed miles to kilometers on all displays, and now cannot change it back!

have you held the trip switch ong enough - with the ignition on and off - given the way you caused the problem

I have tried holding it a really long time. I have also taken it to the local Ford Dealer, who have plugged the computer in and looked at all the country settings etc, to make sure it was still set for the UK market. They said that it was not possible to change between Miles and Kilometers without changing the country setting.

I'm going to try the Disconnect the battery, then reconnect with the trip reset held in, but hold it in for a really long time, like 2/3 minutes, if my son's finger can hold it that long!

NikpV- thanks for your rapid response to this question! As a newbie I did not realise there was so much help out there

Well I realy am impressed with you guys now! I cannot find the post that suggested it, but disconnecting the battery, holding in the trip button whilst reconnecting the battery, then letting go when miles were displayed worked.

So why did Ford dealer (having phoned Ford Technical department) say that it could not be done?!!

Well, three years on and it happened again! GRRR!

Anyway the simple 'press the button' fix didn't work but.... (unless you have very long arms you will need help) if you disconnect the battery get someone to pess AND HOLD the odometer trip and then reconnect the battery, after about 30 seconds those pesky kilometers disappear and are replaced by nice friendly miles.

I had forgotten the original 'fix' and am so pleased that this thread was still 'searchable'. Thanks to the mods and admins on this forum - great job folks for which my sincere thanks.
