hi all. first time on site like this. found things very informative over the last few days. (seems like there are more galaxy owners than what you see on the road) i find this encouraging in that 2nd opinions seem to be encouraged on here.

anyway. to introduce myself. i am 25 yrs old from swindon. i have just purchased my first galaxy. v/99 1.9 tdi zetec. 103000 mls. have 3rd baby on the way and needed something a bit bigger than my mk4 astra hatch. spent months agonising over what to settle with and in the end the decision was obvious. galaxy wins hands down. over the moon with it now.

moving on to topic. my first prob is not having any power from front cigarette lighter. is this common on this range of galaxy's and is it easy to fix.

Obvious question but have you checked the fuse? Number 7 I believe. Should be 20A but was increased to 25A from May '99 so it depends when yours was built.

Can I sort of hi-jack this thread - with apologies of course. I have just bought my first Galaxy - a 2005 1.9 TDi and am wondering if the cigarette lighter circuit remains 'live' when the ignition is switched off? I know I could check it out myself quite easily - but - I am in the UK (aren't we all? I hear you ask) but, as mumof4 is aware, my Galaxy - when I get it - is in Spain. I need to know in advance about this circuit thingy 'cos I use a solar battery charger to keep the battery alive when I'm not able to use the car - and it is so easy to just plug into the lighter circuit, but totally useless if circuit is isolated when ignition is switched off.

Many thanks - this my first post!
