Guest MATT Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 well, i went on another adventure this weekend :P , with the caravan, and when i got to the camp noticed a flood in the boot  - cleaned it up, thinking it was the rain. next day, there was a small puddle of water :o where the lock is - thought this is strange, i then went into investigation mode (like all men do! :o ) then i thought back to last week when i had fixed the rear washer pipe under the Passenger Seat so i cleaned up the puddle, shut the boot, then used the rear washer again, for about 7 seconds, went to the back, opened the boot, and it was soaked!, water every where!, so now ive got to dismantle the boot, and fix it again! MATT  Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 Reminds me of the Mondeo estate that my last employers bought as a pool car (no pun intended!) Brand new, the rear washer squirted the inside of the tailgate glass although the wiper cleaned the outside. Quite how this got through the PDI, I do not know (well, I suspect that I do actually, the usual standard of work from the Ford dealer!) Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 I can't believe it, even the wiper motor unit is VW! LOOK! pipe under front passenger seat close up matt Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 oh yeah, its all working great at the moment, i hope there is no other connections that can go, getting fed up of this! matt Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 I can't believe it, even the wiper motor unit is VW! I bet if you tried you be hard pushed to find enough parts made by Ford to count on both hands! considering the original split in the early stages was that Ford did the design work and VW sourced the parts, it's of no surprise that the majority of parts are VW labelled, and the fact that the majority of the ancillary parts would be bought in and just have a VW parts label stuck on them every part so far that I have bought from the dealers has been in a VW bag stuck inside a Ford box, and they can remain that way while they are still cheaper than VW  Quote
LOZ Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 My rear washer doesn't work!Even the wiper has a hard time getting from oneside to the other! And I don't get any of the water problems as stated on this site! So God knows where the water goes but it certainly isn't flowing inside the car! Am I lucky or what! Just to add : I can hear the washer motor running and the wiper is better at wiping as I've used it a few times - but still no water! AND YES the water bottle is full - I'm not that kind of a female car owner. Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 maybe you need a complete new unit? MATT Quote
deadpool2e Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 rear washer is useless anyway only squirts up half way and the wipers only do half the window because of the curve in it?? :( Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 well - i think they could of engineered it better. MATT Quote
Guest paule230 Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 Can someone tell me how you remove the plastic trim that goes along the edge of the carpet and the scuff plates (?) by the doors (Its been removed in the above photos). The reason is that by the back doors my carpet doesnt push up under it, almost as if the carpet was cut as small as possible the only just be held under by it. So now the carpet is getting rucked up by the kids getting in/out of the car. Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 give me chance go take a photo, and all will be revealed. MATT Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 the theory is the same for all the panels. MATT Quote
Sharanfx Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 The common cause for these washer fluid pipes breaking, is that they freeze in the winter and crack due to you not putting any washer fluid in. So just make sure you kee[ that washer fluid toped up in winter. :( Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 with a flat head screw driver, prize the cover off, and unscrew the now visible screw. do this for the other one, then its just a case of prizing off the cover. MATT Quote
Guest paule230 Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I can prise open the screw cover but I cannot get it open far enough to put a screw driver onto the screw. When I bend the cover down it hit the black door seal as shown at bottom of last photo. I tried to get the seal off but it seems somewhat reluctant. Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 if you have a ratchet, with a screwdriver adaptor, try using that, other wise, you need to give a different type of screwdriver, that will let you to unscrew it at an angle, good luck. MATT Quote

The Inhibitor Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Very impressive macro camera action on the screw Matt................. If you focus in on the tarten car rug closer you can just pick out the breed of sheep used by the fibre strand's If the shot was in the same position in my car, it would reveal a mixture of hair, food particals and vomit left by the kid's adventure's! Which is another good reason to become proficiant in all aspects of interior trim removal and replacment paule230!! "Daddy....Daddy!!!.....Blooooooooooooooooooooor.... Quote
Mauser Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Hey Matt, when did you pop around and pinch my tartan rug ?....one of the first things I bought when I started driving for some reason. Long time back with my 1.3 Allegro lol.Ooops off-topic sorry.Simon Quote

Can anyone point me in the right direction? ThanksFranknun i can - but will help me to explain with a few pictures - it is currently raining and will be dark in about 1 - 2 hours - so will have to help you tomorrow - after ive got a few piccys. it isnt too hard - but there is one stage in the process where there's a risk of breaking the glass - but be careful and it will be ok! Mauser - ive had them for years, and years - and they have served many purposes! from keeping me warm - to protecting my seats from kids and dog lol MATT Quote

Guest MATT Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 no - a sledge hammer! fast and effective! MATT <_< Quote

Having owned 3 audis of which two had the same problem with the rear wiperI found that by lubricating the spindle with a good quality penertrating spray the operation of the wiper was greatly improved, this is due to the angle of the rear window picking up lots of spray etc. Quote
Guest MATT Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 The same thing has just happened in my 51 plate 2.3 Zetec but I can't see how to remove the interior trim on the rear door without causing damage. Can anyone point me in the right direction? ok - 1stly make sure it is leaking! get some one to operate the rear wiper - and u stand at the back - boot open - but not right up - hold it half way open. when washer is run, water should leak out lol <well shouldnt, but will if there is a leak> if there is then to remove the rear door card, you do this: 1stly, remove the screws, that hold the handle on. MATT Quote
Guest MATT Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 then remove the screws that go in the rear light access comartment. then around the edge of the card, pull it outward. on the picture below, where it shows where the clips are - what i did, was shut the boot, with me in the boot <not locking myself in!>, and with a modified screwdriver, <small flat screw driver, bent 90 degrees> i wedges it between the glass and door card, and pulled towards me, once i had "un cliped two" i could get my fingers behind it, and then pulled the rest of it off. try to place the screwdriver as close to the clips as possible - ive shown roughly where they are. and dont be too forceful - these things break very easily. if you have any troubles, pm me or summet.
