Hi all,

New member - just found this forum - have waded thru all the posts and have a couple of questions - one of them completely off the wall

I'm interested in the size of the cubby in the top/centre of the dash - basically to see if an old laptop I have would fit in there as the starting point for a sat nav setup. If somebody happens to know the dimensions off the top of their head or would be so kind as to check - that would be great. Failing that I'll either nip down to the dealers with a tape measure or wait until my Galaxy arrives in 3-5weeks time.

One more question - I've gone for the dvd in the back and from what I've read on here it seems this must be used with headsets provided. (Can anyone confirm or deny ?) If this is the case does anyone know if the radio /cd ( think its model 6006 RDS EON, 6-disc in-dash CD) has an aux input so that I could push the dvd sound thru the speakers instead ?

Many Thanks

Smoggie

You won't get a laptop in the dash cubby-holes.

IIRC (I don't mave multimedia in my Galaxy) you must use headphones to listen to the DVD/video, there is no aux input to the radio-CD unit but if you have the factory-fit satnav it is possible to connect the multimedia output to it, as the satnav unit has an aux input. You need special cables and adapters though. Try a search for posts by Jakey247; someone else posted this:

With a lot of advice from the DVD King jakey247 (!) I have managed to achieve both my goals, get DVD output from the 10 speakers and get DVD picture in the SatNav screen.

In summary here is what I did:

1. Buy a special unit that converts the DVD analogue signal into a form suitable for the SatNav unit. This is distributed by www.soundlinks.co.uk, they have a list of retailers on their website. Part no. is VAG02VID, I bought is for

Ok - thanks for the replies - I'll wait until my galaxy arrives to see if there is an alternative way of mounting the laptop and check out pda / tom tom solutions via the web in the meantime.

Cheers

Smoggie.
