chriso Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Hello, I need to replace my brake light switch as it's stopping us selecting drive etc. on the automatic gearbox. I have got a new switch and am confused by other threads talking about some kind of ratchet mechanism. To get the old one out, do I twist/pull or something else? If anyone else has accomplished this feat of dexterity I would appreciate you taking the time to describe it. Kind regards, Chris Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 To remove the switch you twist it clockwise and then pull it out of the mounting hole, but be carefull under there are while you do it as some of the steel work has sharp edges! wear long sleeve's! the ratchet thing is when you reset the switch after you have replaced it or even before to see if it helps? push the brake pedal to apply the brakes and keep it depressed, now pull the plunger out (the pip) of the switch to it's maximum length, now release the pedal and let it push the plunger in, job done, the switch is set Quote
chriso Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 Thanks VR6Galaxy - you have filled me with confidence to have a go. Quote
