Fault Code Reader

Ive just bought a fault code reader, and done all of the tests.

The ignition on, engine off test is ok - it produces results.

But the Engine on test tells me 'spark advance word circuit' and the 'EPT/DPFE'

it then says that the engine speed during self test was too low (despite the manual saying 3,000rpm)

Ive tried 3000, 3250, 3400, 3750 and 4000 rpm

Also, on the 'wiggle test', the manual says the test light will go out and only come on if there is a problem. My light stays on! but it goes out when i unplug the intake temp sensor. Yet the MAF sensor being unplugged just leaves the light on - no change. The MAF was new 40,000 miles ago.

Help please!
