Calliper Carrier

Can anyone help?

My mark 2 failed its mot sometime ago due differential braking whoever changed the calliper and carrier has got the wrong one as my pads only cover about a third of the brake disc

Does this make sense???

Is it the wrong carrier? Other side Is ok

The pads should almost cover the full width of the machined brake disk surface, with no overhang.

 

With only 1/3 of the disc covered, I'm guessing the pads are overhanging the disk. If so, it sounds like you have a carrier/caliper intended for the 300mm discs fitted to a car with 288mm discs.

 

If a garage fitted this incorrect caliper, they ought to be shot, IMHO.

Is it possible they have fitted the wrong disc(s) rather than the wrong caliper? Are both discs actually the same size?

Ok I hope this is ok and works the first pic is passenger side and is fine the 2nd pic is drivers side and as you can see is the culprit it's a complete different calliper and I think brake pad but I do think the discs are ok. My problem is the good one is it mark 1 or 2?

Cant help sorry ,whoever bokted tgat lot together should be shot!

Best thing would be take tge pics with you to a scrappy and match them there

And depending on the mileage coverwd with those pads a newset of pads due to the uneven wear would go in if it was mine

 

Cant help wondering if you stop in a straight line tho

Problem is scrappy only got mark 1 avail

Quick lookbon ebay suggests that the top one is mk1 and looks to me to be correct. I reckon the other one is for the big 300mm+ discs . Id say the caliper is correct due to pad position but pressure is being applied wrongly as its held off the disc

So u think the complete hub on the "good" side is mark 1 ? So if I bought a complete hub that should sort it?

Is it complete hub with bolt (18mm) if so how much and location

You should only need carrier

Im pretty sure the top pic is whats on my mk2

The vareints came with newer car and more hp

Could I get the 18mm bolt that I need? I'm actually coming to colwyn bay before Xmas on the present run so that would fit

I don't have the bolts. The one's that are on the car should Dr the same for the carrier.
