aabrantes Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Hi, I have a Galaxy 1.9 TDI 115 hp of 2002 and I got the error P1666, reading the forum it seams that I have to replace the injector wiring loom and for that I have to remove the cover of the engine, rigth? But I found a problem I'm not able to remove the screw of rigth side on the back, see the picture in attach. I appreciate help from someone that already did this job to explain me how to remove this screw. .http://i46.tinypic.com/24l3lua.jpg Thanks Edited February 22, 2013 by aabrantes Quote
dlt1617 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 A fewways of doing this both horrible! Remove the egr valve behind to gain access (total pig!) Or as I did remove it with a short spanner from under the egr valve (yes it horrible andyes I lost count of the number of times I dropped it!) Dave Quote
Pineappleman Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I did this very job last weekend....... many swearwords later i finally managed to get that bolt undone..... trail and error with a spanner in my case. Good luck Quote
aabrantes Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Hi, Thanks for your replies, I did the job last weekend. I have made this tool, I soldered to a screwdriver a socket wrench 10 and the bolt was easily removed without remove anything more but anyway with a few swearwords :-) http://s10.postimage.org/7onuci461/fotografia.jpg And better I solved the problem, for now, only by cleaning the plugs of the injector wiring loom. seatkid Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) A bit late but for anyone else about to attempt how about http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Power+Tool+Accessories/Bit+Holders/Flexi+Bit+Holder+150mm/d80/sd2586/p18155 plus a suitable 10mm socket and allen key/driver. Or a 10mm box spanner. Edited March 5, 2013 by seatkid Quote
grim reaper01 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Hi ya i'm new to the site but when i changed mine i used a 1/4 inch drive socket and a knuckle bit on an extension bar worked a treat only took me 20 mins from start to finish hope this helps. :48: Quote
Sparkyalan Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Ha ha...just noticed this thread...I had to deal with that bugger ( no 8 i think) when fixing my fuel injector last year. The most stupid piece of engine design I have ever seen. As I recall, I had to use a small 10mm socket with a variety of mini extension bars and small spanner. Getting the socket to sit on the bolt head using the tips of two fingers, and dropping it 270 times in the process nearly brought on a coronary and I invented 67 new swear words. Quote
teett Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 Hi to everybody! I couldn't figure out how to remove EGR valve, because one screw of EGR valve is also impossible to reach. However, I used a regular 10mm spanner to remove the rocker cover screw. Before that I removed part of the intercooler pipework. Quote
